905W chip
You have to wait
Tanix TX3 MINI - Amlogic S905W (New SoC) - Android 7.1.1 - FreakTab.com
I have not tried this, but pulled the LE sdcard from my Mecool M8S Pro+ S905X, pushed to tanix box, LE started with reset button. Remote is different, did not work with mecool config of course. Wifi is the same crappy SCI board as the Mecool's, so no wifi. Lan works, mini wireless keyboard/touchpad works, videos play.
Ordered some RTL8723BS modules for both the mecool and tanix boxes like this: [link]
I will swap and try them, RTL8723BS driver modules are builtin both of the roms, and it is wifi+bluetooth chip!
New firmware img, for USB Burning tool: [link]
its working
used boot from usb
LibreELEC-S905.arm-8.2-8.1.9.img.gz and device tree gxl_p212_2g.dtb
Remote is woking fine
dd5.1 (+) dts, dts hd master true hd atmos all working
auto frame works.
No wifi.
Cheers
I have a Tanix tx3 mini with the last official firmware from Tanix website (Built version: 20170829). I have tried to boot LE from uSD card and even USB ports (I have tried both ports) without success, it doesn't boot. I have tried different methods, toothpick method, I tried to reboot in recovery method, etc, none of the methods worked.
I'm suspecting this bootloader simply doesn't boot from external medias. For those who can boot from uSD/usb there are any chance to share the bootloader of your official version?
Thanks in advance guys!
Update 1
First of all thank you for your reply kyri
Well in fact what you have proposed in PM I have already tried. It was one of the methods I used initially without success.
And thanks to a user from another forum that sent me his bootloader, I realized that it is not the problem here. I resolved to solder a uart connector to the board and I'm gonna try to log the boot process.
Update 2
After soldering the uart connector on the board and log the boot process I could conclude that I was using the wrong device tree file for my box version. I have picked a different device tree file and it work.
Just for future reference
For those with 1G ram version you should use gxl_p212_1g.dtb
For those with 2G ram version you should use gxl_p212_2g.dtb
read you private mail, tell us if it worked
I use the method, with the a fake zipfile and booted from Andoid to Libreelec.
My box is on latest Tanix firmware posted above in a link in the post of Upo001.
But with previous firmware it also worked.
Cheers
tangoxray glad to hear it worked for you
Yes, u must use S905X device tree for this Tanix S905W box.
Cheers
Can someone please compile a LibreELEC image with working wifi for this device ?
Judgeing from the pcb pictures on freaktab (Tanix TX3 MINI - Amlogic S905W (New SoC) - Android 7.1.1 - FreakTab.com), you will be out of luck. It is the same wifi chip that shows up in many newer cheap boxes and there is no driver source code available. We discussed the chip here: [S905X] Unknown WLAN chip
Ordered this wifi module with RTL8723bs. Driver is present in the factory rom. Arrived today. Pulled that sh.tty wifi module and soldered the realtek module instead. Now wifi working with factory android and with LE.
Thanks for trying and testing that. I can only wonder how many cents the makers of the cheap boxes save by switching to SCI.
anyone know if its possible to program the LCD display?
I remember reading about someone using LCDProc addon from the Kodi repository. Don't know if it will work with your box, but give it whirl, shouldn't be that hard.

got the addon just taking the box apart now to see if i can find who makes the display? i guess it requires a driver?
Not as far as I know, but I haven't tried to use it. If you do get it working, let me know. One of my buddies has a TX3 mini and it would be cool to set up the LCD display for him. Did you check the wiki for configuration info ( Home · herrnst/script.xbmc.lcdproc Wiki · GitHub )?
Has anyone tried installtointernal on the tx3?
