Linux (and LibreElec which is obviously Linux based) has the annoying habit of leaking you're ISP's DNS address which could possibly reveal you're identity, although you're connected to a VPN. Just change you're DNS server to one of the open source DNS servers like OpenNic or public DNS and that should fix you're problem. Choose one of the DNS server addresses at OpenNIC Project. Then in Kodi goto LibreElec Configuration addon => Connections. Choose the connection you use, then click on "edit". Then choose DNS-servers and enter in nameserver #1 the DNS address you've chosen from OpenNic. (for example: 195.10.195.195 which is a german name server) Then reboot... That should fix you're problem... Here's some reading material about DNS leakage in Linux: How to check and fix DNS leak in Linux
(If you really want to be secure, you could also implement a "VPN Kill Switch". This makes sure you can only access the internet through you're VPN. As soon you're VPN connection drops, you're entire internet connection will be cut off, making sure that you're own public IP address won't be revealed...)

Hello,
Thanks for the addon. I'm not able to reach web gui though. I've a VPN and a VPN Kill switch installed using iptables. Is there maybe an exception rule I have to add, in order to make syncthing web gui reachable?
Thanks in advance

I figured it out with the help and search of several other fora. I've got a working VPN kill switch now. Thanks for all the input and suggestions...

Ah,
Crystal clear Escalade... Thank you for explaining. I always use a VPN (not particularly for piracy) but for privacy, so hence my question. I already did a search on other fora (including the OpenVPN forum) but I can't find the answer I'm looking for unfortunately. Maybe one of the other forum members (Da Flex) can elaborate on his suggestion of using a Python script with autostart.sh?
In the mean time I will search on other fora for an answer (if there is one)...
Kind regards,

Hello Iridium,
Why is this question out of scope? LibreELEC is the basis for primarily Kodi. VPN is always advised in combination with Kodi, so I don't understand why my question about a VPN kill switch is out of scope for this forum. Can you elaborate on that?
Kind regards,

Hello,
Is there a way to implement /activate a vpn kill switch in LibreELEC, to prevent being exposed when my VPN connection is down?
Thanks in advance,

Hello,
First of all, thank you Zomboided for this incredible addon. Works in combination with AirVPN as a charm. My question is: is there any kind of vpn kill switch implemented in this addon and if so, how reliable is this?
Thank you in advance...

Hello,
I have the same problem with libreelec / kodi leia with the current version of libreelec: " Settings addon is not yet ready, please try again later..." as the person in this thread from 2017 "Settings addon is not yet ready, please try again later"
It's now 2019 and this bug apparently still exists in LibreELEC. Is there a fix for this? I am unable to enter LibreElec configuration. I've tried all the steps mentioned in the other thread from 2017, but after implementing my own settings, I got the same issue again.
Thanks in advance...
