Simply use 8.2.2.3.
Getting back to 8.2.2.3 went smooth.
Since i didn't see anyone upload any logs about the splitscreen issue, i went ahead and opend a thread about it.
Device: MECOOL BB2-PRO (S912 - 3GB RAM - Gbit Network)
Release: 8.2.3.1 by kszaq
Scenario: When playing 4K content, or when setting the UI to 4k resolution, i get a split screen with the top and bottom half of the screen showing the same mirrored image. In the Log, my UI is set to 1080p at 60Hz. Once i start playback of the 4K movie (Alien Covenant) i see the splitscreen, with UI in foreground and movie in the background on both halfs.
Since i also couldt get the 720p resolution switching (mentioned in the release notes) to work i also played a 720p movie (Primer). Again, UI is set to 1080p at 60HZ. when i start playback my TV is getting a 1080 at 24Hz signal, instead of 720p at 24 Hz.
I have the same problem. As soon as the screen tries to change to 4K it just shows the GUI duplicated into 2 frames one above the other.
Same here.
Update seemed to work without issues on my Mecool BB2 Pro, however 720p content still plays in 1080p.
Is there anything i have to change to make it work?
Out of curiosity, is there any reason to go back to 666Hz when all I do is play video? 400Hz sounds like less heat, which is good and I can't imagine kszaq would set this default if it would make any problems with playback.
Already available in OP.
Thats great news, thanks!
Is it just a matter of setting the Interface output rez to 1080p and then if 4K content is played it will auto switch to 4K rez?
Correct. Actually, i think the interface is set to 1080p at 60Hz by default, which is fine, since it will also auto switch to 1080p at 24Hz if thats what the content runs at.
Also be aware, that 720p and below will be upscaled to 1080p by Kodi, although kszaq has teased the possibility of auto 720p resolution switching in an upcomming update.
S905D also ticks those boxes but very few boxes use it. I'm currently deciding between S912 and S905X + USB Gbit ethernet card. Total cost is +- the same but I prefer to have all in one. Also, USB adapter is giving me only 200Mbps while native Gbit from S912 is almost 900Mbps
i did some testing with Gigabit USB Adapters on my Vero 4K (s905x) and it was not great. The speeds got up to around 200 Mbps but it was not stable, so overall it was worse than the onboard Ethernet.
This might have been a compatibility problem with the specific adapter I used, though.
Short question: Iam planning on buying a M8S Pro L with S912 but it the beginning of this thread kzaq says:
But in this thread(the box guide): Choosing a S905 / S905X / S905D / S905W / S912 box guide wrxtasy says:
Which of this is true?
i was using a s905x box before, which was great. However the 100Mbit Ethernet was starting to be a bottleneck with the availability of high Bitrate 4k Content.
So I wanted a box that does 4k, HDR10, has a Gigabit port and libreelec running on it. Afaik the s912 is the only chip that checks all those boxes.
I am pleasantly surprised how stable it is The OP mentions random reboot, which I haven't experienced any in the 2 weeks I use my box. If 720p resolution switching is added in the next update, everything I want it to do will be possible.
Huge thx to kszaq
