this is likely a overscan issue

try pc mode at the TV or find overscan/auto scaling etc at your tv settings

it has no pc mode nor overscan/auto scaling.

I think it has to do with the cable or jack, the tv has tw0 jacks, one on the rear and one on the side.

the rear one is connected with 1080 hdmi 1.4 cable to a streamer running libreelec, the side one is connected to the pc.

if I use the rear jack + the 1.4 hdmi cable with the pc it works.

I think that it must be the cable, thing ism I'm not sure if it expected or not

    Greetings,

I've tried booting 9.2.4 on my setup (Intel G4560) with a hdmi 2.0 cable to a LG tv that supports at most 1080p and I see that the edges of the ui are cut.

I'd assume that the igd supports 1080p without any problem and that the tv is ok (I have another streamer running 1080p with an hdmi 1.4 cable) which works ok.

can it be a bad cable? if no, is there a way fix it configuration wise?

    Thanks.

    Greetings,

as part of my endeavors to improve my viewing experience from my current one (odroidc2), I first looked into an intel nuc which can provide me what I need (FHD sw decoding netflix viewing while some other small processes run in the background).

I'm trying to look for another possible solution, I have a server which serves as my router, nas and backup server.

the nas and backup run on the machine (Debian 10) and the vm run within a kvm vm (self compiled openwrt, with 4 pci nic pass-through and one usb wireless pass-through on 2 threads, 1GB of ram), all of this boots from a 16gb usb 3.0 on a asus H110M-A/M.2, 4 gb ram of 2400mhz and an intel G4560.

I've thought of upgrading the cpu to i5-7500, throw in another 4 gb of ram of the same speed and get an external sata to 3.0 enclosure.

then I move the backup hdd into the enclosure and hook into the rpi4 I have which will serve as the new backup server.

I might later on do the same with the nas to the odroidc2 board.

but here is the main issue, after I supposedly upgrade the server, I allocate 2GB of ram to the gpu leaving 6 for the os.

then I'll create another vm with the following specs: 2GB of disk size, 4 cpus and 4GB of ram (router vm's resources are unchanged and the host has 1GB for his own usage)

in addition I pass-through an usb thumb drive and the gpu. inside that vm I install libreelec.

what can I expect from this configuration performance wise? will this configuration as the ability to fulfill my needs from above? e.g. FHD sw decoding netflix viewing?

does 2GB is enough for libreelec?

    Thanks in advance,

    Dagg.

Most NUC devices are technically capable of playing software decoded Netflix streams in 1080p (and in the past this was possible) but in the last year or so Netflix has implemented DRM changes that restrict Kodi (on Linux) to the SD versions of their content. Feel free to show Netflix DRM the middle-finger and use another service.

actually, my arm based streamer does allow 1080p streaming but the video freezes instantly while the audio continues to play.

I thought of nuc because afaik it is powerful enough to use sw decoding.

as for netflix's middle finger, afaik, there is not much of alternative, disney+ and amazon doesn't support linux at all (last I heard), I cannot get cbs access, hulu doesn't seems worth it and I get netflix for free...

in another thread I've asked the same question, one of the users posted it works well for him.

    issue solved.

the device heats up when in use, not that hot but as mentioned above it is hooked up to a externally powered usb hub which seems to heats up too.

so both heating up probably caused the device to pass his max temp operation and caused it to malfunction to the point it caused the system to shutdown.

I've hooked the tuner directly to the rpi2 and all works great.

i hope this helps anyone else.

    Greetings,

I'm running LE 8.0.2 on a rpi2 setup with a activity powered usb hub with a Mygica T230 DVB-T/T2/C usb revciver.

I've setup the tvheadend and I get reception. the problem is that when I try to view the feeds from within kodi (I've installed the proper iptv client), the setup shuts down suddenly.

one stream plays in the window but causes the shutdown when I switch to full screen.

another causes the shutdown when I select it to view.

when testing the device on my desktop I got it to work with a different tuner fw )the md5sum differed=, so I tried to add them to /storage/.config/firmware but it still crashes

I'll post logs from the dmesg later today.

does anyone know by any chance what can cause this behavior?

    Thanks.
