how do i go about modernizing my old box to libre electric to run kodi ?
prometheus box want to change to update to libre!

Seems to be some normal Intel machine in general.
Just try to download that:
LibreELEC-Generic.x86_64-8.0.2.tar
and put that into the .update folder on your machine. Make backups first in case something crashes. But AFAICT it's some normal Intel machine and the file image I mentioned above should work fine.

MR.DaVu, thank you for your reply and suggestion. i do not have access to the internet on that machine aka web browser. can i use a regular pc , download and save to a card . then i will insert the card and reboot the kodi box, really just spit balling>

As long as the update .tar file ends up in /storage/.update/ nothing cares about an internet connection. The other option is creating a new USB installer stick and clean installing .. which is never a bad idea since OE installs lots of language add-ons that aren't required.
