SMB share

    I have a BT smart hub and have plugged a USB 3 portable hard drive to it.

    I have advanced settings set as:

    buffermode 0

    memorysize 278921216

    readfactor 20

    This works perfectly with internet streams but doesn't buffer the shared usb drive at all. Unfortunately, I have no way of changing to NFS shares and the cifs share doesn't return anything.

    Any ideas how to get SMB shares to buffer?

    Tried and failed - just freezes and dies trying to play 720p and above from the networked usb drive over wifi. Going to have to give up on it and just put it on a usb stick straight to the box.

    Wifi is a real PITA. 144Mbps was no good, even with an extender, ditto 300Mbps. I got round it by using a 1Gb home plug but that required dedicated sockets (to reduce signal noise). Eventually I bought a 5ghz wifi antenna and I haven't had any problems since - yet to try it on DTS-MA 7ch but it should be fine as I already get 6.3MB/s off of the internet (Which is my max download speed).

    I don't know what your hardware is, or your location of the hub from your LE box but if 5Ghz is available, I'd give that a go.
