How to create a playlist?

  • Okay. But I really can't figure that out. I can't seem to get it into my head. I have no idea why, but it's not plausible to me. Thanks anyway. I'll run Liber into the wall a few times. Maybe that will help more...

  • Maybe a video will help.

  • That's nice, but unfortunately it doesn't help me. I don't have any music files. I only have SoundCloud, and that's not shown in the video. Everything's fine. It's not meant to be. Thanks anyway.

  • Read: https://kodi.wiki/view/Internet_video_and_audio_streams

Create .strm files for each Soundcloud URL that you want to use as media. Kodi treats these like a media file with no metadata.

Create .nfo files for each .strm file. This is required. It also provides a way to add metadata, e.g. pretty names, if wanted.

Scrape the .nfo files to the Library.

Add Library items to a playlist.

Do something with the playlist, like script it being started 20 seconds after Kodi starts (how you do that is .. Google'able).

Plan B .. get a Raspberry Pi and use one of the many good niche distros or RPiOS installable apps/containers designed for "signage" use-cases, as that appears to be the end goal and something Kodi is not really designed for.

  • Yes, I actually overlooked that while skimming the instructions. Or I'm just too tired to organize the information clearly. I'm still using a Raspberry Pi at the moment, but the NVME is gone, and then the 5 is back. Okay. Sounds tricky, but I'll take a look. So please don't close it so quickly? if you have any further questions?

  • I completely understand the frustration with the .strm file method; it is a lot of manual work just to get a playlist running. If you find the SoundCloud add-on too unreliable for your library, another approach is to simply download the tracks you want and add them as local files. I use dvsnackvideo.com to grab clips and audio from social platforms for my own Kodi library. Once the files are local, creating an intelligent playlist takes seconds and you don't have to worry about broken streams or complicated metadata scraping.

  • Oh, hello Demond.robel, yes. Well, I think I've already understood it roughly and completely. But my question was /- how do I create... I ... without having files on my hard drive to m[ssen such a playlist??? I'm not interested in any files either. I've known up until now how to download music and music from the internet for your own use in 2026. But honestly, in China, buses run without bus drivers, and a new airport will be realized in three months. In Germany, 10 years? and here we can't create an intelligent playlist with just streams from e.g. Soundcloud??? I think something's broken somewhere. But I could be wrong? long laugh....:):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):)
