[RPi5] LE 12.2.1 doesn't work with Netboot

I netboot my Pi's so I acknowledge this is an unusual configuration.

12.2.1 doesn't netboot on a Pi 5. After the bootloader, you just get a black screen. It does not respond to ssh connections. "textmode" does nothing.

12.0.2 works just fine, and 12.2.1 works fine on a Pi 4, also netbooting.

Are there any known issues with 12.2.1 netbooting that would not affect 12.0.2, and wouldn't affect a Pi 4?

I think this might be some kind of EDID problem? When connected to a monitor, 12.2.1 boots just fine. But when connected to my receiver/TV, it hangs with a black screen. (Not a lack of signal. It outputs a 1080p black screen.)

12.0.2 works just fine on the same receiver.

If netboot is working won't you have logs on your nfs drive to share even if ssh doesn't work?

Is there something I can add to cmdline.txt to force logging on?

See if appending ^ to kernel boot params in cmdline.txt does anything? This forces the intial DRM state to a safe 1080@60 value to mitigate the kernel attempting 4K, which requires more HDMI specs to be aligned (e.g. RPi5 does not support YUV 4:2:0 output).
