LE 12.0.2 on Raspberry Pi 3: Some video files won't play smoothly

  • Hello

I have LE 12.0.2 on my RPI 3 installed. It worked severyl years without any problems.

Since a few weeks, I can witness some problems with video files: The audio plays normal but the video is a kind of stop-and-go which produces an AV-Lag with the audio being first. This is not at all video files but at quite a lot.

I found out that the most recent LE version is 12.2, but I can't update to this version inside LE. 12.0.2 is the newest one I get offered.

Since the library of video files is quite big, I am wonderng, if maybe that is the reason? Can't the CPU handle the database?

Would it be useful to upgrade to RPI 5 or reduce the database?

Or what else can be the reason?

    Thanks in Advance.

  • I found out that the most recent LE version is 12.2, but I can't update to this version inside LE

Set auto-update to manual then change the release series from LibreELEC 12.0 to LibreELEC 12.2, and then the 12.2.0 release will be available in the list of releases you can update to.

  • Thank you. Wow, that was easy. It's now updated.

The problem with the slow video files is not solved though. I saw during updating, that I probably have the RPi 2 instead of 3.

Could the hardware be the problem with the videos?

  • LE's RPi2 software is optimized to run on RPi2 and RPi3.

Could the hardware be the problem with the videos?

    1. Find a video from the Kodi sample library, that runs "stop-and-go" on your hardware: https://kodi.wiki/view/Samples
    2. Use that sample to create and publish a log:

Please provide a full debug log.

How to post a log (wiki)

      1. Enable debugging in Settings>System Settings>Logging
      2. Restart Kodi
      3. Replicate the problem
      4. Generate a log URL (do not post/upload logs to the forum)

use "Settings > LibreELEC > System > Paste system logs" or run "pastekodi" over SSH, then post the URL link
