Change advancedsettings.xml

  • I can see in special://xbmc, there is preinstalled advance settings.

I use library and scrapers, I see the resolution <fanartres> is set alwfully low, and this shows up on my 75inch TV, I cannot delete or change this with kodi itself,

Nor, does the other advancesettings I create overwrite this.

    Anyone help on this?

  • The configuration concept of LE is to have default files for settings. They are read-only. To edit one of them, you have to create another file on a different location. That file will then overwrite the settings of the default file.

In your case, create a /storage/.kodi/userdata/advancedsettings.xml file.

  • It's not an LE concept, Kodi supports this on all platforms. The final settings used are always a composite of default (which in our case are embedded in the SYSTEM file which make them read-only) + userdata (advancedsettings.xml) settings. Userdata settings only overwrite default if they exist in both places, i.e. you don't need to clone the entire default file.

  • Brilliant, thank you for the clarity. Now, one 'silly' question.

Will my new advancesetting totally overwrite the old advancesettings?

Just if it does i will copy parts of it except the artwork aspect.

To make sure it is optimised.

    Genuine thanks for the help.

  • sorry could not edit my post above. Chewy, i did not read your reply correctly. so, all i need to do is create a new fanartres in my advacne settings, and that will overwrite that aspect whilst leaving the other in place, gotcha.

    sorry for the ignorance
