  • Hello everyone, is it possible to install librelec on any mxq box? i have this box i cant do anything with it other than playing whatever i put on a usb stick. i cant update the browser, no youtube, nothing. What can i do? i know its not worth much but i hate to see it laying around with no use. This is the board:

What do you guys think? Thanks!

  • There are MXQ boxes from Amlogic, Allwinner, and Rockchip and that photo doesn't enlighten us (although the 45 degree rotation on the chip makes Amlogic unlikely). So before we go any further, we'd need to understand the specific chip on the board, and ideally see a boot log from the original vendor OS full of driver information.

There is a HD18Q marking on the PCB, so I'm 99% sure that there is an Amlogic S805 SoC under the heatsink.

It looks very similar to the Eny EM6Q-MXQ PCB, which also had a 45 degree heatsink, although there is no battery for the RTC.
