No sound on Intel N100 via Display Port

  • I have a Marantz AVR and a Beelink S12 outputting to a LG 4K TV. I have HD Audio drop outs via HDMI (along with many others). I bought a USB-C Display port to HDMI adapter in April, which eliminated the audio dropouts. The adapter died a couple months ago so I switched back to regular HDMI and put up with the glitches. I finally bought another adapter last week (the exact same one) however now I have no sound whatsoever. No files work, no 2.0, no 5.1, no DTS, no ATMOS, etc. Absolutely nothing.

I made sure the output device is set to

    Any ideas?

  • Well, passthrough worked perfectly via HDMI (other than the drop outs) and my first DP to HDMI adapter, however it doesnt seem to work with the new one (which is supposedly identical). I did get non passthrough sound to work yesterday, although I don't know what I did differently.

  • For anyone else that finds this thread in the future, I deleted and recreated EDID data and now I magically have passthrough sound again. And best of all, no sound crackles on 2160p 23.976hz HD audio content!

I thought I had done that already (several times, even), but apparently not. No audio delay via DP; previously had .125 seconds on HDMI.

  • Code
    echo "sleep 10" > /storage/.config/autostart.sh

Kodi only checks for audio hardware at startup and LE boots fast, so run ^ that and reboot to ensure audio drivers have finished loading and the hardware exists before Kodi starts. No guarantees that's the issue.

  • Thanks for the suggestion, however that did not make any change.

I also bought a highly recommended USB C DP to HDMI adapter and it didnt seem to make a difference either.

To add even more strange behavior to the mix, I rebooted the PC, opened a movie, and both passthrough and analog were working. I stopped the movie, tried 2 different ones and got no sound on either. I reopened the first movie whose sound worked, and got nothing. No passthrough or analog. Here is a log of that: https://paste.libreelec.tv/neutral-fowl.log
