[RPi4] Graphic (resolution) errror on new installation

  • Hi.

I had an error with my SD card an got new one (RPi 4).

When I installed ver 12 and tested on my amp w. hdmi + TV I got a weird resolution and I can not change it.

So I tested the old version I used to have before (ver 9) and all is great!

What happend? How do I resolve it?

Should I stay with ver 9?

  • Up to you on what version you use, but LE12 has quite a few improvements for RPi4/5 hardware over LE 9.2.8. It's hard to guess at what "weird resolution" means so better to share a Kodi debug log.

  • Please provide a full debug log.

How to post a log (wiki)

    1. Enable debugging in Settings>System Settings>Logging
    2. Restart Kodi
    3. Replicate the problem
    4. Generate a log URL (do not post/upload logs to the forum)

use "Settings > LibreELEC > System > Paste system logs" or run "pastekodi" over SSH, then post the URL link
  • popcornmix is there any way to force 1080p composite output using kernel DRM?

No, composite cannot handle HD. From here:

    Quote

Composite video is an baseband analog video format that typically carries a 405, 525 or 625 line interlaced black and white or color signal, on a single channel,

I don't know if there was a way to force an older version of LE using the firmware driver to generate a 1080p gui, and rescale it down to SD, then output it. If there was it wasn't a deliberately supported use case and kernel driver has no mechanism for that.

  • Excuse me, but what are you talking about?

I neither use composit nor analog output....

I use HDMI all the way...

In LE v9 all is good in HD, but not in higher versions (v.10 and higher).

This is from clean install from image.

But it's maybe not my case you're discussing...

  • The EDID data of your TV looking incomplete to me. I assume that triggers the issue, because newer kernels / LE versions depending on it.

In your first post, you mentioned an AMP between RPi4 and TV. Can you try it with RPi4 connected directly to the TV and post a new log? If that works, you should try again with getedid create before you insert the AMP again. https://wiki.libreelec.tv/configuration/edid
