Background sound dropping out help solve please

  • Hello,

I’m having an issue with my raspberry pi 4 4gb dropping audio tv and movie play back. The dialogue plays ok but when anyone stops talking the audio drops out. So there is no background music or ambience sounds. When someone resumes talking the audio kicks back in. The media is stored on a 512 gb thumb drive. The media is 720p, 2 ch stereo and encoded in h256/nvenc. I’ve also tried running the media from a 2 tb seagate portable drive and I get the same results. I have tried force_turbo=1 or core_freq_min=500 in config.txt

    I’d appreciate any ideas
    Thank you

    Andy

  • LE version? .. Debug Logs? .. Media Sample for testing?

I will get you that information, but it will have to be this weekend, thank you for the reply. When you say media sample, you would like me to upload one of the shows?

    Andy

  • Either a whole show or 60 seconds of a show if that's easier .. enough to test.

I hope this is what you need, LE version 12.0.0

  • The debug log doesn't show anything being played, so not much use :(

Ok, so does the log only show current session? I have this setup in our RV, so I ran the Pi/LE then shut the system down brought the pi inside the house. I then ssh in to get log. Ill have to see if i can reach the pi over wifi will in the trailer if the log is only for the current powered on session.

  • You probably get your videos from illegal sources, and they aren't encoded correctly:

    Code

    That’s a bold statement

I’ve come to the conclusion that the tv in our RV has an issue outputting the media. I can attach the pi to a TV inside our home and the shows play back with out issue.
