Libreelec 12 on RPi5 - flickering display; resolution wrong

My fresh installation on a brand new RPi5 sucks.

At the first boot, I can see this boot screen which changes resolution in 1-2s, is really blurry and almost not readable.

The same HDMI-cable worked on a RPi 4

Any ideas ?

Took me a bit of time to try:

The new setup works on a different TV using HDMI.

Back to the old TV same problem:

The image looks for a part of a second fine, then the resolution seems to change (I can read "Libr" in the reight lower corner, but the letters seem to be way bigger than normal - factor 4 or 5?)

Can I control the way how HDMI chooses resolution?

The TV should have 1920x1080

Did you try on RPi OS? Did you have the same issue?

negative. Just plugged the new Rpi5 with the same cbale in another TV set

Add that ^ to boot params in cmdline.txt (on the same line, not a separate one) and see if it improves things?
