[RPi5] Power LED not working as expected

I'd like the power led to remain off when the system is powered off. Currently, it's (a quite bright) red when the system is off.

I tried adding the following lines to the config.txt file:

dtparam=pwr_led_trigger=default-on
dtparam=pwr_led_activelow=off

but that did not seem to make a difference.

What am I missing?

I cut the power to the Pi with remotecontrolled poweroutlets like these and the turn it on with same remote.

/boot/config.txt parameters are for when the system is running, not when it is powered off.

If there is an option for it, it would most likely be set via the rpi-eeprom-config

I don't think it's an LE problem. The easiest solution is to solder the LED off, and use an LED connected to GPIO.
