I guess I'm that user? I do remember you gave support for creating a keymap for my Venz V10. But I cannot remember you were waiting for feedback.
Situation is that I am currently running a LE on the box, but it's not stable in seeking through video streams, and sporadically I have freezes and network-issues in Kodi-UI as well. (But I guess that's what's meant in the initial post)

edit: to get a better Wife-Acceptance-factor (read: less crashes), I doubted to go back to CE, but I couldn't find time and I'ld like to replace the complete box as well because sometimes the navigation is slow - depending on the plugins

I tried meson-gxl-s905l-venz-v10.dtb and the result is the same - kernel panic.

It turned out that this DTB was in the archive https://test.libreelec.tv/11.0/Amlogic/b…3cd2-box.img.gz

If I remember correctly, my Venz-V10 box was booting fine with the 'BOX' image (no kernel panics), but ir-remote (and keyboard?) didn't work. Original discussion (but maybe not so relevant for your issue): Venz V10 (S905L) Bring Up

Extra info: actually I don't remember is wi-fi is working (I'm using wired connection).

Extra info2: I do run LE from the microSD card toothpick method), I never succeeded running LE from USB (however I could perform stock-firmware updates from USB).

I searched the web and found this https://github.com/hexdump0815/li…-pp-cores.patch. As you suggested, it is very likely that the problem is the GPU driver. So my S905L? GPU may be 2 cores instead of 3. And the Armbian, which I tried a long time ago, was without a desktop !

I succeeded

On LibreELEC-AMLGX.aarch64-12.0-nightly-20231210-e521363-box.img.gz

With device-tree-compiler I decompiled (dtb->dts) meson-gxl-s905x-p212.dtb and edited only mali section (gpu@c0000) as I saw from here https://github.com/hexdump0815/li…905l2-x7-5g.dts - just deleted pp2 and ppmmu2 and left only pp0,ppmmu0,pp1,ppmmu1. Тhen I compiled it (dts->dtb) with the same tool.

And the magic happened The Libreelec booted and no kernel panic !

There is no sound, no remote, no WiFi at the moment but LAN works. I have installed Stalker PVR Client and the SD/HD TV channels are playing fine.

dmladenov I was working on the same change but you beat me to the announcement. It's good to know it works

As per https://github.com/chewitt/linux/commits/amlogic-6.7.y I've added "meson-gxl-s905l-p261.dtb" to the "box" image in my testing share: https://chewitt.libreelec.tv/testing/ so please switch to that dtb then share the URL from "dmesg | paste" and we can what else is working or not. NB: WiFi will not work because there's no upstream support for the MT7668 chipset. You can also follow https://wiki.libreelec.tv/configuration/…ration-advanced to create a working keymap.

Still no sound from HDMI. Not tested analog.

ir-keytable -t shows the (NEC) scan codes on all buttons and will be able to do working keymap.

HDMI CEC works.

In Video info screen (the O key) - System rendering speed =10-15fps. The Video stream is h264 codec SD and HD. Screen Resolution 1920x1080@50Hz. Video decoder = ff-h264_v4l2m2m-drm_prime (HW). System CPU0-3 usage 2-25%

Please put Kodi in debug mode then update to https://chewitt.libreelec.tv/testing/LibreE…h64-11.80.0.tar and share the URL from "pastekodi" after playing something. I'm not seeing anything unexpected/wrong in the system log but let's see what more logging shows.

I pushed a minor tweak to https://chewitt.libreelec.tv/testing/LibreE…h64-11.80.0.tar so you can update and share dmesg again (please) but the previous log you shared shows the audio card as detected in the kernel and Kodi and once you ignore all the stalker.pvr noise in the log; the stream you played shows normal 2.0 alsa audio output. So from logs all looks normal

It's not an upstreamable patch, but if it works I'll figure out more

Please update to https://chewitt.libreelec.tv/testing/LibreE…h64-11.80.0.tar and see if audio works now?

I missed the first test

Now I updated with the new .tar and again no sound

Although I have selected sound via HDMI on the analogue output there is sound but it is distorted.

Just in case I switched to Android and no sound problem.

Just for testing I reverted the .tar image before the audio hack - from your post #44 and restored from my Recycle bin.

And no difference - again there is sound only from the analog audio output - distorted, delayed with a changed timbre. The same is without PVR Client when I played a regular MP3 song. And only when I select audio output to spdif or pulse audio it disappears.

Is there any significant difference between the s905 images of the last couple of days? Yesterday, I updated to the one from Jan 1st. A fresh image showed up later on the day, so I updated to that one too (jan 2nd). And today (Jan 3rd) a third image showed up and I updated to that one too. But the build number, under /etc/os-release, remained the same.

Congratulations. This time you did it
We have sound via HDMI and is good - not distorted. Analog audio output is also OK.

Тhe slow rendering speed (8-15 fps) remains. Key_O->System

New info:

- When I change Settings -> Player -> Videos -> PRIME Render Method from "Direct To Plane" to EGL, the system rendering speed is raised to ~35fps, but with both options, the video is not that smooth.

- I noticed that no HW decoding for MPEG2 Video Streams ?
