60 fps full HD video on RP4

  • Hello,

I have issue with quality of some full HD videos. It is played continously but it looks like in shadow and shows cubes. You can compare images. Played nok.jpg (plyed on RPi 4), Played ok.jpg (played on PC). Do you have any idea how to fix it? I tried LibreElec 10.0.0, 10.0.1 and OSMC released 20210808. Thanks for any advise.

  • Played ok.jpg (played on PC).

As said, h264/10bit is an odd video format, I don't know of any cheapish Android boxes that will support it. But if a PC plays it fine (which graphics card is in it?), then that could be your next target solution.

One other option would be too convert those videos to h265/hevc format with tools like Handbrake or ffmpeg, that the RPi4 displays just fine.

  • I own a lot of h264/10Bit Anime Videos and they play fine without any Problems on my PC with an Asus EAH5570 Graphic Card and LibreElec 9.2.8.

    (I've disabled all the VAAPI (MPEG / VC-1 / VP8 / VP9 and HEVC) Hardware-Acceleration)

On my Raspberry Pi3 with LibreElec 9.2.8 they got Problems like mentioned and shown above with strange Colors or a blocky Picture.
