About a second or so after first playing a movie playback will pause, requiring me to press play again to resume playback.

Without a full & debug-enabled kodi.log file => Your problem is not our problem.

My reaction is not rude but it is simply direct, and judging from your reaction you apparently already know we need a log file. Since we have no crystal ball here there is no way telling what is going on on your Raspberry Pi, so yes, of course we need a log file.

So why didn't you submit the log file already it in the first place, instead of gracing us with a one-liner 'problem description' and a suprised reaction on top of it?
