screen looks garbled

hello , i was looking at ways to vnc into my raspberry pi 3 running libreelec but i saw the screen looks garbled , if i reboot the pi, any screen uptil the kodi logo looks fine the kodi screen looks like a checkerboard, any ideas on how to fix this before i format? running LibreELEC (official): 9.2.3 (RPi2.arm), i've tried changing resolutions but that look the same

At which point you had the bug after vanilla LE installation?

Whats the add-on you try to display on the screen shot?

i did the upgrade to 9.2.3 and it was fine then , no add-on's, i know if i go to the pi the flickers between a good screen and a garbled screen.

9.2.4 is the most recent LE version. You can copy it into the update folder, and reboot to install it.

To do so, you can login by SSH, and use wget to copy into the update folder. Or remove the microSD, and copy on your PC.

Hopefully the bug disappears after the update.

Try to disable whatever VNC viewer you was using on your network...

restart LE

Which VNC viewer are you using?

You can enforce a different HDMI mode by editing config.txt.

Read here how to edit config.txt.

Read here about HDMI options.

Set hdmi_group and hdmi_mode to switch to a different HDMI mode.

Additionally you can try different hdmi_pixel_encoding settings.

If you decide to re-install LE from scratch, check your microSD first. Maybe bad blocks are the cause of the issue.
