Mail program keeps asking for Credentials.

I have installed the mail program.

I have set it up for gmail.

However it keeps asking for credentials.

I have entered my email address and password correctly. Played with it for some time uninstall install, but still same error.

The error message is clear, but still there is not much else to set up with it. I have verified the username and password. Which seem to be the credentials. still same error.

When I grep for mail in the log file this is what I see. Not sure if its related.

It would be bBest to ask for help in the add-on support thread in Kodi forums (most add-ons have one) as it's nothing to do with us and we have no idea how it works or what the problem might be.

just saying, this addon lloks unmaintained for 5 years and there is no Leia (LE9.x) release for it at all. So likely its just broken in general.

By the way. I hate to leave a question unanswered if I find the answer, for others. The answer to the problem seems to be that in Gmail you need to activate less secure mail apps. I tried many many times a variety of options but nothing worked. Then went into gmail and allowed less secure mail, (which I thought I had dont in the past) and then it seems to work. If this does not work. disable and then enable in Gmail. Part of the confusion for me is that in Gmail if you want less secure apps you have to turn it ON. So On means less secure and Off means more secure.
