RPI4 4k video playback slow

  • I am using a 2GB Raspberry Pi 4 with libreelec 9.2 trying to play a downloaded 4k .webm version of Big Buck Bunny from youtube.. Video is stored on a 500GB samsung SSD connected to one of the USB 3.0 ports. Video playback is relatively smooth but seems set at about 0.50 speed. Other 4k videos I have tried have the same issue.

I added "hdmi_enable_4kp60=1" to my /flash/config.txt after reading the 9.2 release notes.

Anyone know what the issue might be?

    Thanks!

  • The same happens to me when trying to play a 4k video with the following specs

  • Please provide a full debug log.

How to post a log (wiki)

    1. Enable debugging in Settings>System Settings>Logging
    2. Restart Kodi
    3. Replicate the problem
    4. Generate a log URL (do not post/upload logs to the forum)

use "Settings > LibreELEC > System > Paste system logs" or run "pastekodi" over SSH, then post the URL link
  • This is to be expected, H264 hardware decoding is only supported up to HD resolution. 4k videos should be in HEVC/H265 format, like it's the standard for UHD BluRay.

    so long,
