Hi,
I have the add-on system tool installed and I want to use hd-idle to spin down my external hdd because hdpram is not working for my drive. Where can I find the config files and how do I set this up?
Thanks!
How to setup hd-idle?

Can you confirm that it spins down on other OS'es? Some drives simply don't have the capability.

Found it! The Western Digital drive spins down, but it takes 30 minutes after its last read/write command. I thought it would never stop I can live with that, and it's very quiet though. Not like those drives in the early days which sounds like a helicopter that was taking off.

If you can get to a windows computer you could try downloading western digital utilities.
This allows you to change the sleep time for the drive.
I assume it's built into the firmware on some western digital external drives.
I have 2 Western digital my passport's
Both came with a default 30mins spin down time.
I changed them both to 10mins spin down time with the WD Utilities program.
Hope this helps
