Create etc\exports

  • Hi there,

I'm running kodi 16.1 through Libreelec 7.0.2 on a rpi3 and am wanting to create an exports file to stream my media via nfs. Unfortunately etc is read-only and I can't create the file or make etc writable? And clues what I need to do?

Thanks in advance for any help!

  • LibreELEC does not contain an NFS server, so creating an /etc/exports files has no use whatsoever. It does have Samba server built-in.

Thanks for the response, I must have become confused I thought it did have, I'm having buffering issues when streaming and was hopping to use nfs instead of smb, oh well back to the drawing board.

    Thanks again

Is there no way to manually inject this?

I have the same concerns about SMB overheads, and would like to NFS share between multiple Kodi devices in my house.

My idea is to have a hdd plugged to separate Raspberry Pi's on my network - and then to share from 1 pi to another, without needing a 3rd device always powered up sharing over NFS - to me this sounds a lot more efficient than relying on SMB only

Some time ago, I ran a test to monitor the speed differences between SMB and NFS from a server. The difference between the two was negligible.

So it's not the protocol but the setup, which is causing issues. Use the tools available in LE to determine where the bottleneck is.
