ir remote

just setup libreelec 9.0

tried several tutorials but cant seem to get remote working

im using microsoft ir receiver model 1040

and remote is champion urc2025b2

any help would be appriciated

Most tutorials on the 'net are outdated or wrong.

It's best you start again from scratch (remove all configuration settings, files etc you added or do a fresh installation) and follow only the instructions in our Wiki:

Infrared Remotes [LibreELEC.wiki]

i tried that link but there is no lircd.conf file on my system

You don't need a lirc.conf so that's fine. Go read the tutorial again slowly (and assume you don't need lirc, because 99.99% of remotes don't)
