If S9xx are solid - where to buy? some ebay vendor sold me an s905w as an X. Need a trustworthy source, if it costs a few bucks extra so be it.

As a whole? I'd say do not turn on your television set...
If you want something with decent support, you could have a look at the Vero 4K. Apart from all cheap oriental based stuff, currently most other supported devices are either just on the market with teething issues, or 'getting old' or are no longer being sold.

LePotato is a well built board. It's not in a cheap plastic box though.
