Adding new Hardware (with already supported SoC)?

Hi everyone,

is there any sort of documentation on what is needed for a new Box to be added? I don't just want to beg, if someone can help, a i'm happy to do the legwork ;).

In my case, it's about the "open"-hour chameleon, which has an standard SD-Card for the OS, so it's relativly easy to extract files; is it enough to get the DeviceTree, or is more work involved?

"it depends" on how different the other OS is to the current RK 4.4 kernel. In some cases (same kernel codebase) the device tree might just work and life is simple. In other cases the current device tree probably contains the info you need to reinterpret things to a new one. Android != Linux and kernel version determines whether you're working in ancient greek or modern greek (so to speak).

Open-hour uses Lollipop from 2014, far from an Oreo 4.4 kernel that could help for LibreELEC.

Open-Hour is also a discontinued product, so for developers to add support for it would be almost impossible.

Most box makers don't deviate far from the OEM reference designs so it's 'probably' supportable (the SoC is on the supported list) .. but it all hinges on getting the device tree right.
