I would dearly love to have either the display blanked or better just diplaying dots so you can see the box is powered on, or even saying "kodi" would be nice, whenever booted into LE.
Have a look at the LE openVFD Addon configurations. There is all sorts of stuff to adjust.

I think he's saying that the display is stuck at "boot", which normally means the vfd driver has not been started or the wrong vfd.conf was used.

My Box is Enybox X1 (S905X, 2GB RAM, 16GB)
Running LE 8.2.4.2 and installed openvfd-1.0.1, DTB in Libreelec is: gxl_p212_2g.dtb
but VFD display isn't working. I think, my vfd chip is CS1628EO doesn't support.
Please add support. Thanks

I don't know what version of the vfd driver wrxtasy uses in 8.2.4.2, but in 8.2.4.1 he wasn't using the driver I adapted, so it won't work at all without a per-box DTB configuration.
Also, the dtb file you posted is empty, you may have to extract it from Android directly.
Try running the following commands and post the URLs.

I re-install Coreelec 8.95 (with dtb: gxl_p212_2g.dtb) and OpenVFD services, but sill black display
Here is my Android _DTB
dmesg - http://ix.io/1jmg
systemctl status openvfd - http://ix.io/1jmj
Please, have a look. Thanks

Thanks. Try the attached vfd.conf.
-
@The Coolest , thanks for your support. I try replace your file, but vfd display still black. here is dmesg - http://ix.io/1jvW
systemctl status openvfd - http://ix.io/1jvx
-
vvd214 You need to reboot the box after replacing the vfd.conf file. From the log it looks like you're still using the previous vfd.conf.
-
I did reinstall service OpenVFD from Coreleec Repository, replace old /storage/.config/vfd.conf with a new one from you , and reboot, still black display. Did I missed something
dmesg - http://ix.io/1jwh
systemctl status openvfd - http://ix.io/1jwi

From dmesg:

You're not using the vfd I attached in this post...
LED (VFD) Displays in LibreELEC
Make sure that you put it into Configfiles folder, and rename it to 'vfd.conf'
-
@The Coolest , I'm sure, I put your vfd.conf to /storage/.config/ folder and install service OpenVFD (ver 1.0.2)from Coreleec Repository. Maybe OpenVFD service doesn't read config in /storage/.config/vfd.conf, and read from somewhere else
-
vvd214 What does
produce? It's highly unlikely that it's trying to read the vfd.conf from somewhere else.
The Kodi service can't affect the dmesg output from openvfd module, what you see there is what is read from vfd.conf. And currently what I'm seeing is that you're using the vfd.conf file narcotic posted.
-
@The Coolest , sorry I have a mistake, I check again, I did installed service.fd628 before, and I already remove it.
Now only OpenVFD service installed , still black display.
here we are
dmesg - http://ix.io/1jxx
systemctl status openvfd - http://ix.io/1jxy
cat /storage/.config/vfd.conf - http://ix.io/1jxz
-
OK, now there's some progress.
Looks like there is now a conflict with pins allocation. I'll look into it later today if I have time or tomorrow.
This will probably require a dedicated DTB for this box.
-
OK try it with the attached dtb. Put on root of SD card and rename to 'dtb.img', like usual.
-
@The Coolest , great job, not perfect but It's working now. Here is new status:
dmesg - http://ix.io/1jcb
systemctl status openvfd - http://ix.io/1jcc
Display start with picture 1 , then move to picture 2 and finish with picture 3
Please help me fix it
-
We should probably take this to PM, as there's no point in cluttering the forum with our dialogue
vvd214 Odd.
I suggest you disable the Kodi openvfd service for testing purposes.
SSH into the box, kill the OpenVFDService process.
Then start it again like so:This will run the service in demo mode, and should look something like this:
