cannot install addons from zip files with libreelec 8.2 due to invalid structure error on all addons I have tried

I just installed libreelec 8.2 on my nexbox a95x and I can't seem to get any addons to install, specifically IPVANISH etc.

You are probably downloading source code zip files from GitHub (which will have incorrect structure) instead of built/compiled source zip files. This would be best described as "user error" ..

I am new to libreelec so I don't know how to point to the correct zip files, ie. not github. I just typed in the url specified for the addon I want. How do I know if it is from GitHub or some other source? Also I cannot install any of the libreelec tools.

one of the urls is ** URL REMOVED ** for IPVANISH install
