Installation of .bin Creator Tool

This page: libreelec_usb-sd_creator [LibreELEC] shows links to downloading the Creator Tool. I have done that for my Ubuntu 16.04 (64bit) 'puter. Next I ran

chmod +x to the file in ~/Downloads

after that, I ran

sudo ./LibreELEC.USB-SD.Creator.Linux-64bit.bin

The terminal hangs. No Creator launches.

What did I do wrong?

Same problem with the windows build. It just hangs on start.

Tried many mirrors too

USB Drive not listed

But this doesn't help with your problem - it just shows my perspective and view on libreelec.

Anyway, can you try without sudo?

With sudo

mark@Lexington:~/Downloads$ sudo ./LibreELEC.USB-SD.Creator.Linux-64bit.bin

[sudo] password for mark:

^C

./ runs and stalls

mark@Lexington:~/Downloads$ ./LibreELEC.USB-SD.Creator.Linux-64bit.bin

Aborted (core dumped)

Then I'm sorry I have no idea. I just tested on Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS and it starts with and without sudo.

Maybe someone who understand Linux internals more will step up. I assume it has something to do with X server or something like that.

Rather than:

Try:

chmod a+x LibreELEC.USB-SD.Creator.Linux-64bit.bin

Then do:

Code

sudo ./LibreELEC.USB-SD.Creator.Linux-64bit.bin
