Some videos stutter

  • Hi,

    I run libreelec 8.2.1 on a new Intel NUC i3 8GB RAM (I think it's Skylake).

I have some movies that stutter and I cannot seem to find out why, as they play fine in VLC and on Popcornhour.

Here is for example The Gladiator (GLADIATOR.MKV in the log):

I've noticed that all the files I have problems so far are encoded RefFrames 5 frames, [email protected].

I have put in attachment the log file: 01_KODI.log

I see some warnings when playing the file but I have no clue what the problem is, especially that on Windows Kodi on my laptop, the file plays just fine.

    Thank you,

    Adrian.

  • Interesting that you are using a Class A network at home

Anyway...try copying the file locally to the machine and play it from there. If it doesn´t stutter while playing locally then I would pay some attention on your network.

If it still stutters, we might need a new logfile

To keep the log short and clean:

    - enable debug logging

    - reboot the device or at least restart kodi

    - reproduce your issue as fast as you can (don´t do anything else)

    - provide the log at Pastebin.com - #1 paste tool since 2002! and post a link to it.

Downloading logfiles is annoying. Therefore we have paste-services ;)

  • Hi DaVu,

I will copy the file locally and give it a try tonight when I get home.

Concerning the logfile, I did enable debug logging (did it not work?). I went to system - Logging - Debug log and I had an overlay on the screen during my tests, showing CPU activity and other info.

I tried to provide the log via libreelec - pastebin but it did not work, I had an error (something like "cannot upload file"). Does this error show in the log?

Anyway this is why I had to put the log as an attachment.

    Thank you,

    Adrian.

  • Hi Klojum,

It'll get rid of it when I get home. It was just a test, see if I could have news channels from Romania for my mother in law (she only speaks romanian). As it happens, the channels she wants do not work, so it's useless anyway.

Apart from that, I am little bit confused about the debugging. I did enable debugging but it seems it did not work, or did it ? Does the log include debugging?

    Thank you,

    Adrian.

  • Hi,

It's still not working. I got the stuttering even in local.

Here is what I did :

    1. I uninstalled the TV Online addon

    2. I copied the file to the local machine in videos folder

    3. I enabled debugging in System

    4. I rebooted the machine

    5. I played the GLADIATOR.MKV from the local folder (aprox 5 min.) The stuttering is there from the first seconds.

    6. I stopped playing

    7. I uploaded the log via pastebin in Libreelec Addon : HgZO

I hope you guys can see something in the log that could explain this.

    Thank you,

    Adrian

  • Hi,

Here is the log in attachment, as I see that the pastebin server is down

    01_KODI.log

As you can see the debug is on :

    Quote

07:19:27.142 T:140286689445568 NOTICE: Enabled debug logging due to GUI setting (2)

I did exactly as you said, enabled debug, reboot, play file and that's it.

I hope you guys can now check my log and see something that could help.

    Thank you,

    Adrian
