Raspberry problems

  • Hi guys, I just installed the last version 8.1.2 on raspberry 1 b.

    I use a CEC remote of my TV lg and Internet is wired. Kodi work good.

    Internet it say it's OK, but I can't connect. I tried to download list of repository, for example , but it say failed. It doesn't download information from film and series TV. So it seems no Internet.

    What I have to check?

    Other question. from the vertical menu on the left (to be honest I prefer the old horizontal kodi menu) every time I go on video or video TV it ask always to add video to library. I tried, but it doesn't add nothing.... Where I do mistake?

    Many thanks and sorry for my bad English

    Ale

  • Hi,

    2) BD Player connected instead of the Rasp in the same lan by powerline: ip 192.168.1.111

    3) Tried force manual setting on RP with ip: 192.168.1.120 . Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0 and Gateway: 192.168.1.121 and dns 1 and 2 of google. Nothing

    This is the setting of the BD Player that is working without problems

    I tried libreelec, openeleec... same problem

    Nothing... no way

    Suggestions?

    Thanks

  • When you set manualy IP addresses on your RPi you have to use router's IP address for Gateway.

    Looking at your BD Player settings I would say that your router's IP is 192.168.1.254. Use that IP for Gateway and DNS 1, and try if it will work. If not, find out the correct router's IP address...

  • What is your router's IP address? (Mine is, for example 192.168.1.1)

    What are your exact settings that you put in RPi?

    Can you log on to your router and check what are DHCP pool settings. If you can change it, then set DHCP pool range from 192.168.1.100 to 192.168.1.200. After that you can assign any free IP address from 192.168.1.10 to 192.168.1.99 on your RPi.

    If you are on a windows machine, open Command Prompt and run ipconfig/all command. It will show you all devices with IP addresses on your network. This way you can make sure what is actually your Gateway IP address.

    Btw, did you try turning your BD off, and then use the same network settings on your Pi?

    When you change any settings on Pi, are they saved when you reboot your Pi?

  • Hi,

    In Rpi i tried all the way, now i have what you suggested before.

    192.168.1.120 . Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0 and Gateway: 192.168.1.254 and dns 1: 192.168.1.254 Dns2: 8.8.4.4

    I have a Router TG788vn v2

    Yes, when i do this test i remove the Bd Player, so i put the RPI where was connected the Player

    Thanks

  • OK, so your gateway address is definitely .254.

    Since you set your network properties on Pi manually, you should set it like this:

    IPv4 => 192.168.1.50 (any # between .10 and .63)

    Subnet mask => 255.255.255.0

    Gateway => 192.168.1.254

    DNS1 => 192.168.1.254

    DNS2 => 8.8.8.8

    DNS3 => 8.8.4.4

    If this does not work, then it is not your Pi settings, but something else...

    BTW, you should increase DHCP Lease time (Durata lease) on your router. 10 min is to short and typical for coffee bars

  • Hi....

    i tried your setting... nothing to do.

    In weekend i will try to put a long cable from router to Rp and see if the problem is the powerline

    thnaks for your patience

    Ale

  • An IP address with DHCP of 168.254.243.28 should never appear. I assume, you have a problem in your network connection.

    As you told, other devices seem to work. But maybe the 100MBit LAN of the RPi has a problem.

    If available, try to add an additional switch between the powerline and the RPi.

    Check the network with ping.
