How to get nightlies for amlogic (Wetek Core)?
Should be here, but they were stopped a while ago:
I'd guess the balbes150 images are your best bet for the time being.
I've already given up hope
..that is what I got on all images after 20190522: either few seconds showing and then frozen video(audio still working) or white screen with working audio.
Last Image which worked for me quite good(streams and local files work) is that: LibreELEC-AMLGX.arm-9.1-devel-20190522171931-a41fdf1-box.img.gz
Same for me, that one works seems to work okay on the WP2.
Obviously HDMI bitstreaming is still WIP, and the standard WeTek mutliboot is bypassed but it's getting there.
Grab the WeTek NAND install .zips from here:
Should be this one:
So when are the nightly builds of AMLGX supposed to be happening again?
Great stuff, what we've all been waiting for really this.
Why ? If another 3.14 kernel release works why should you care ?
It's not working though, that's the point. Digitial passthrough has been broken for quite some time on the LE 3.14 kernel images.
Obviously the images for the other team are fine, but LE should be about running as close to mainline as possible IMHO.
Just as a general note for people. The team has made a decision not to release Amlogic (and Allwinner) images as part of LE 9.2 which is currently being built and will see an ALPHA1 release this week. Amlogic mainline has several outstanding technical decisions related to boot and Panfrost has some critical bugs that developers simply haven't had time to look at properly due to current work and family commitments.
That's fair enough, but it's easy to see how folks lose hope with this Amlogic hardware.
I'm just glad we won't see yet another 3.14 kernel release.
Is there a ELI5 guide yet for installing this on a WP2 w/eMMC?
Raspberry Pi's are still the gold standard SBC for LibreELEC IMHO, unless you can consider a SFF Intel x86 system.
Latest modern kernel, best stability, no major deal-breaking digital passthrough bugs (like the Amlogic boxes etc), but obviously no 4K capability.
If you ask me, this is a bug.
It's a 'known' bug though, it's not worth fixing until we get a new kernel that isn't 3.14.
meson-ir just doesn't work well with the WeTek Play 2 remote unfortunately, it's a shame but at least there are alternative solutions.
It's a known Amlogic issue unfortunately fertigp, and something that won't be fixed until probably 9.2 or 10, so your choices are to stick with 8.2.5 or switch to CoreELEC.
Is there going to be a NAND install .zip available for the WeTek's?
The sooner the 3.14 kernel images are ditched for Amlogic hardware, the better IMHO.
I rather see a somewhat feature lacking mainline kernel version, than a broken 3.14 release again.
- There is no sound on HDMI output if audio output is set to HDMI. If audio output is set to analog then HDMI output works.
The main issue with this though is that it borks the digital passthrough if it's set to the 'analog' output. In all honesty I'd avoid the LE9 builds for Amlogic hardware at the moment, you'd be better off sticking to LE8 'which just works' or waiting until the mainline kernel is ready.
