Isn't safemode launched automatically after system abnormalities are detected?
I have never seen it on any of my devices personally, but mine are all shutdown correctly via the power menu.
Seems a bit . . . wreckless to simply disable a safety feature that is being invoked. Surely it's better to find out why it's happening and fix the cause? Kind of like removing the guard from a bandsaw because you bumped into it once 
we (LE) don't official support these builds at our site due the nature of the rather wacky 3.14 codebase, these builds have their flaws but works in general okay

If I pull the card from the first device, if I put it in the second one - I will run it from the memory card (it's exactly the same model) will it all work? My library, settings, etc.?

The hdmi cable I was checking is ok.
When I turn on a movie or tv program via yatse, the picture is good. The problem is with Kodi and its appearance.
When that happens, SSH into the box, rename guisettings.xml to guisettings.xml.BAK and reboot.
Once you can see what you're doing, change box resolution to your preferred setting.
I can usually then SSH in again, delete guisettings.xml and remove the .BAK from guisettings.xml.BAK and things are good again
If you have Android on internal, you can, instead, boot to Android and turn of the auto-select best resolution in display settings then set resolution the same as in Kodi.
What are you guys suggesting?

This is specific to my VIM2 remote, but you can try it on any box.
The only thing specific to your box is the values you're using. It's in the OP (along with other tweaking tips) 
Follow the simple steps in the OP and you'll have one in no time at all !
Did you activate the keymaps?
I think you only really need to do that if you don't intend to reboot. I'm pretty sure I just rebooted the box
just install the x96 into the \\coreelec\Configfiles\rc_keymaps folder, and the rc_maps into its parent?
(SMB) \\coreelec\Configfiles\rc_keymaps\X96 & \\coreelec\Configfiles\rc_maps.cfg
or
