The first big question here is .. how old is the laptop? Which graphics card is being used, and igp or discrete?
Installing LibreELEC on a x86 device is a 2-step process.
First you create the installer by writing the Generic LibreELEC image onto a USB-stick (or SDcard if supported by the laptop).
The booted installer will then install LibreELEC onto your laptop's HDD/SSD.
Type 'install' during the waiting period of the installer. Ony pressing ENTER will get you into Live Mode.
