For the stuttering reports there is a fix. Either wait for the next LE update or grab firmware from here:
rename and replace http://start.elf/fixup.dat on the FAT partition of sdcard.
I had 2 issues with live tv, without setting sync playback to display, the sound was ahead of the video by about 1/2 second or so.
And I had to set deinterlace method to off, otherwise i had horrendous stutter on both SD and HD (1080p) tv streams from my tvheadend server.
Applying these 2 files has cleared up both these problems... I no longer have to keep toggling sync playback on and off when wanting passthrough when watching movies.. and tv is a lot more pleasant experience.

My crystal ball is currently on repair so I can't tell what the future will bring us in a couple of months.
Current recommendation is: 1GB is fine for 1080p usage, for 4k spend the extra 10$ for the 2GB model. HW video decoding also needs RAM for buffers which need to be larger with 4k content than with 1080p.

Luckily enough there were still 2Gb devices in stock and nabbed one , can relegate the 1Gb one I ordered when half asleep this morning to the bedroom as the little tv in there doesn't do 4K anyways..

saw the news in my feed and brushed the sleep from my eyes and popped in an order for a 4b, case and (trying so hard not to call it a dongle, lol) the usb-c power adapter thing.
should have had some coffee first as didn't see that there were ram options and went with the 1GB

KVIM device tree updated with some hints that I took from balbes150. It should now boot properly.
