From everything I can see, the driver information is exactly the same in LE 7.0.3 and LE 7.90+. It's very confusing that the remote works in one but not the other.

    Do me a favour and ssh into your box and type: usb-devices  and paste the results. Same with the command: lsusb -v
    I have a sneaking suspicion that you have a different hardware version from the one we're having issue with.

    Is there anything I can do my end to help diagnose/contribute? I'm not a Kodi expert, but I'm a MS network engineer by trade, so not a technophobe :)

    I was advised to check the debug log to see if the Pi was receiving any input at all, I haven't had the time to do this yet, but shall do tomorrow.


    you need to narrow down the options to know what is wrong exactly.
    what you can do is run the same build that you are using now in your pi from a usb on a PC and see if the remote works fully. if not see if the key mapper addon works.
    the other option is to install a previous release build on your pi and see if it work.
    try also on windows version of Kodi and see if it works.
    what is the brand of the remote?

    I have since mapped my Amazon Fire Stick remote to Kodi and programmed a key, so I'd say the add-on works.

    The remote works perfectly directly in Windows.

    I'll try Libreelec with Kodi 16 on another SD card to test it.

    Hmmm, guess this compatibility is not active in the BETA version?

    My setup: Pi 3 / Libreelect 7.95.2 BETA / MX3 Remote

    • Confirmed working when connected to a Windows machine, this remote is not functioning on 7.95.2 BETA
    • Works 100% on Librelec 7.03 (Kodi 16.1)


    When on Pi 3 / Libreelec 7.95.2

    • "OK" button is the only functioning button.
    • Tried Keymap Editor, and it doesn't recognise any button presses
