There is no HDR in Generic nightlies.
oh I thought I read some HDR commits are already in the nightlies.
Hello
Can anyone who has working HDR on latest LE Nightlies on Intel NUC let me know which NUC you have?
I am looking to upgrade so want to buy one that works with HDR so far without the extra patches that may never make it into LE11.
I use my script using ssh and wget:
ThreadRFC: keep an elder nightly around
please keep a least one elder nightly around for download when a newer nightly is build.
I'm running nightly "in production" on a daily base with daily updates.
it has some risks [1] - I know -
but doing so, has - for my view - the advantage to get the bugs they're (maybe) still in getting reported and fixed.
YMMV
but there should be a easy backup/fallback solution if the last nightly doesn't play well.
I know I could
- run a additional LE e.g. LE Release on a usb stick
- download nightly twice and…GDPR-7December 26, 2021 at 2:15 AM comment #5

hmm will try again today
did you ssh and wget file or use samba/nfs to transfer?
Hello
I tried to install 2022/1/07 generic nightly but when its installing it fails MD5 sum check and then reboots back into current version.
Its not file as I SSH to LE and download again and still same issue.
Is the nightly broken?
I read ages ago the Intel HDR Linux code worked for NUC6 and later (hence SMPs builds work on your NUC6).
Yeah but he said not all the patches he used are in LE 11 Nightlies. So maybe nightlies HDR will only work on newer NUCs.
I will compile an updated build at some point.
lrusak's Kodi HDR branch hasn't been updated since September. HDR commits from that branch don't apply to a current Kodi master.
ah ok
do you know if the commits in current LE 11 nightlies work for NUC6 like your builds? or will the LE 11 official builds only be for NUC8+?
I cant flash nightly as it keeps saying md5 error for some reason. Will try on next nightly.
No.
Ah do you still do builds or you stopped?
All nightly Generic images are GBM: https://test.libreelec.tv/
thanks
Are all the patches for HDR smp uses in his builds already in the nightlies?
I assume things like Dolby Vision and HDR10+ wont work but basic HDR videos should.
hello
does anyone build LE with GBM and HDR for Intel platforms?
As far as I know there is no open source decoder / renderer for the Dolby Atmos Extensions used with Dolby Digital Plus or Dolby True HD - nor is there a majorly standardised route to sending them as PCM to an AVR.
As a result Passthrough/Bitstream of DD+ with Atmos or True HD with Atmos to an Atmos compatible sound system is the route to getting Atmos decoding and height speaker playback.
You can decode the DD+ and Dolby True HD stream to regular 5.1 / 7.1 PCM no problem though (as the streams are backwards compatible with non-Atmos decoders, which ignore the Atmos extensions)
Ah ok.
Issue I am having is sometimes Kodi plays back DD and DDP 5.1 as 2.0. Happens randomly.
Only if I have pass-through set up.
Will raise thread with logs for that issue again but last time no one had a fix lol
Hello
Happy New Year all!
Does LE 10 support Dolby Atmos decoding? Or do you have to passthrough?
Does passthrough need certain NUCs to work or will NUC6 work?
Thanks
So lets create new thread with updated HDR builds for Generic Intel/AMD hardwae.
smp feel free to post here
HDR build thread got closed
So plot thickens the audio issues I am having is only if I set passthrough to on or have output set to "Best Match".
If I switch to Fixed then audio works but then 2.0 is played at 5.1 of course which I dont like.
LibreELEC 11, not 10.
oops yup close thread
Display MoreFinally got around to testing on 2 x NUC11PAKi5. Seems to work fine running from USB. will dd to nvme after a week.
Also smp's build LibreELEC-Generic.x86_64-11.0-devel-20210904012247-ebf2ee0.img.gz (SMP79) seems to fix playing trueHD audio problems where previous SMP builds would randomly not playrueHD 7.1 audio files. I don't use knodi nighlty builds for obvious reasons so whereever the fix came from...
Nekromantik Sound outputs only on 2.0 channel on the above nucs but if you set it to passthrough doesn't it just pass through in PCM format and your AVR takes care of it ? I pass through to a 7.1 ch samsung receiver which seems to be doing it's thing when kodi is set to 2.0 channel & pass-through.
I also pass-through audio to a sony 8000h tv and seems to work OK.
Please let me know if i'm wrong about kodi 2.0 ch and passthrough and i'll try:
LibreELEC-Generic.x86_64-11.0-devel-20210917015956-1a8a027-ffmeg-4.3-2audiochannelfix.img.gz
SMP made for Nekromanik. Otherwise i'll check when i can get around to it.
yee ha.
Update:
NUC8i5INH with radeon graphics - doesn't play, blank screen same as previous builds
NUC7PJYH4 works fine
I also have a NUC5PPYH but thats a pita to get to. It's got hdmi 1.4b which i don' think supports hdr. I can check if someone wants...at some point.
Yeah I have mine on Passthrough mode and it still has issues. Only happens on files with AC3 audio that outputs max 2.0
anything with DDP and Atmos works fine.
