If anyone has anything to add, would truly appreciate any input.
I own a Rock64. I'm a 1080p guy so that suited my needs.
The ROCKPro64 4GB board designated as LTS (long Term Supply) model, PINE64 committed to supply at least for 5 years until year 2023 and beyond.
Ask Magicsee the same question on long term supply ??
Maybe 1 week, 1 month, 1 year
Maybe N6 is a slow seller.
Sorry , no longer available.
Chinese Business Model.
They've also been known to chop and change hardware components on the same model.
Good luck with that business model.
Pine 64 choice is a No Brainer.
The crashes in latest builds are still there.
Using SSH Command below,Check current Governor settings in latest nightly is set to performance.
The kernel seems to be compiled to boot into performance mode.
List the available governors:
Used on my Rock64 in .config / autostart sh file
I see no performance drop on my Rock64 using "ondemand".
What i did notice is a minimum 10% Drop in TEMPERATURE.
Test for yourself
if I use another skin, show Live TV and press "Back" button, I lose the HDMI signal(Black Screen), until I press the "Stop" button..
Confirmed this happens with AppTV Skin as well.
I just tried a Movie file and using back button does not lose signal until i press settings menu and signal is lost again.
but when I watch a movie(file) and go to live TV menu, after I press on it, I have a signal loss again..
This does not happen with Amlogic Boxes using CE Leia and AppTV Skin.
Must be a Rockchip issue
I just noticed it yesterday.
It does not happen with Estuary Skin.
Will post logs when i get a chance.
I then SMB using my Mac to
/Volumes/Kodi-Failed
I probably should have deleted the profiles.xml from Kodi-Failed as it was empty ??
profiles.xml
Completely Empty
Now that i have restored previous Backup i cannot check as everything is working.
I now looked into the profiles.xml with everything working after the backup and i see
Thank you for looking chewitt
I found this link very similar to my issue
I tried all the deletion of files in the Kodi forum.
Nothing fixed the bootup still in safe mode.
Updated to LibreELEC-RK3328.arm-9.1-nightly-20190228-0111c1d-rock64.tar
Same Safe Mode at boot up.
I restored a backup from 23rd Feb 2019.
Problem Gone.
I updated to LibreELEC-RK3328.arm-9.1-nightly-20190227-ee662eb-rock64.tar
EDIT UPDATE: I looked at my log and from my limited understanding
I think the rock64 image link in nightlies might be pointing to wrong image ?????
Edit update 2 I found this link very similar to my issue but i will wait for someone here from LE
to shed some light using my logs.
When I opened guisettings.xml and profiles.xml in
.kodi/userdata
guisettings.xml
profiles.xml
I then SMB using my Mac to
/Volumes/Kodi-Failed
guisettings.xml
profiles.xml
Completely Empty
Box booted into Safe Mode .
I rebooted , Same again, Safe Mode.
First Crash
Second Crash
As a temporary fix,
You may want to give this a shot
If I install the latest image, how do I update to later versions and then finally a stable release after that?
Simply copy the latest Nightly .tar file into the .update folder of your SBC (via smb)
Then reboot . Update will proceed and install.
So have I jumped the gun and wasted my money?
I assume you purchased the Roc64. I've had this SBC for over 6 months and at the start it was a real challenge as a user / tester putting up with all the bugs during development.
Things have now turned around and the Rock64 is a great SBC using LE Nightlies.
Very well priced for a quality product. Money well spent.
Same here on various platforms. it's not unique to Rockchip.
Interesting: I just fired up my TX3 Mini S905w 2gb/16gb with latest CoreELEC 9.0.0
SD Card Install and no issue. No settings adjustments needed.
Tested Rock64 11th Feb Nightly
Can you see if you get the same result as i do with 7 F00d Network.
I can't believe the resolution 640 X 576 of this channel. It is what it is.
I don't whitelist any 576 resolutions.
Every channel plays back great. SD and HD Except 7 F00d (Censored word) Network.
Black bars either side with squashed picture.
I whitelisted 576 and got the usual stretched crap picture. Not a solution.
Second Picture is VLC on mac Codec info
The CE script should work on the equivalent LE image.
Well after much fiddling I gave up on merging the CE script with LE
Changes to u-boot are needed to scan for DOS partitions amongst other changes.
So CE Script will not work with equivalent LE Image.
Clumpton Glad you got it working with CoreELEC
screenshots using EGL renderer should work
Tried that in Player settings. Rebooted just in case.
Black .png , No change.
Can't even take a screenshot without a video playing , which is what i was trying to do whilst testing AppTV Skin for Leia.
Strange. See what happens.
Direct-To-Plane rendering is preferred for performance reasons.
EGL renderer playback is pretty awful , tried playback of TVHeadend TV Live stream HD. Not watchable.
?? from where ?
at the dl page is only LibreELEC-RK3328.arm-8.90.013-rock64.img.gz
From Rockchip – LibreELEC is where the issue was.
Now i can't reproduce it. Forget it.
I had the nightlies link bookmarked so i see where they are now.
Index of / works fine.
thank yiu but no it's still greyed out, guessing it's a bug?
It's a Leia to do Fix.
At least you can Toggle between different VPN's.
