Livestreams sometimes block VPN IP'S or throttle connection. Maybe try changing server locations.
I use IP Vanish and a server in my country. I have had streams open using my ip without VPN. I then turn on VPN Server in my country and nothing opens. I switch to a VPN in Dallas USA and the streams open. So it's not geo blocking.
Try that.

Your issue of Freezing etc is not related to VPN Manager.
24 mbs is enough speed.
The source is the issue. If you're using Krypton then buffering really throws a stream to buffer and freeze when the source is overloaded or low on bandwidth. Jarvis seems to resume from buffering and not freeze like Krypton.

Did you try turning off overscan on the TV. Menu -> Picture -> Screen adjustment -> Picture Size, then change from “16:9” to “Screen Fit”.
or maybe . “Picture Mode” / “Aspect ratio” change “16:9” to “Just scan”.
I had a friend with these issues on older Samsung or LG and i remember the Overscan was somewhere in the settings above.

In the VPN Addon Manager settings use FILTERING to select addons you want VPN to disconnect.

It would update previous working Chinese Branded Boxes using Libreelec that
have changed Hardware or Firmware causing issues with Libreelec.
A member posting on this thread would make this a more up to date list on any box that changes compatability.

These are the critical specs of your box when choosing device Tree.
Brand names are not.

I'm using Krypton 8.0.1 on my MiniMx 1g/8g Enabled Temp Sensor with no Freezing.

Don't go down that dead end road.
advancedsettings.xml will not resolve buffer issues on live streams as the slow speed of the stream source is the only thing that causes buffering.
Increasing buffer size cached in ram will only extend the playback time until buffering occurs.

I presume your box specs are 2GB RAM /S905 Chip/Gigabit Ethernet
