Not sure if this is correct. Put image on sd card, boot to it, then run installtonand again, I would assume it would overwrite the old install.
Yeah I could, but I also need to keep the original rar files and that's double the disk space for every compressed movie I ever get. I'd rather find another solution that won't make me give up that much space.
Ok, it's up to you if you keep the rar files as well. I'm not sure why you want too.
Why don't you just unrar them, then add just the movie itself to where ever you want. ?
I use clonezilla from a bootable disk, to clone my nuc usb drive, don't see why it wouldn't work with a microsd card, even if it's in a usb adapter.
I'm very shy about posting, always worried I'm going to get slammed for not reading something. For that reason, I always read ... then read again .. and search .. before posting.In this case, I must be doing something very stupid and I'm missing it. No matter how much I've read, I just can't figure it out.
I apologize in advance if I'm wasting anyone's time with this, but I'm hoping it helps future readers as I've personally spent over 8 hours testing different approaches, without success.
My situation:
- In the past I've run Amlogic s812 boxes using the Amlinux.ru s806-s812 builds. I've installed and updated dozens of times without any issue. In the past, I've done this by booting into recovery using the reset button (or terminal method). Then I manually flash the .ZIP image that I've downloaded from Amlinux.ru. This has always worked on s812 hardware.
- They stopped supporting the s812. Good excuse to upgrade :-). I've purchased several s905 boxes (1GB / 8GB / 100Mbit -- branded "Mini MX" (same hardware as "S95 Pro", Tronsmart MXQ, etc) they boot to an "MBOX" branded Android firmware.
- I discovered @kszac highly rated, custom Amlogic buildtrees and decided to use these the s905 boxes. I thought @kszac's builds would be more customized due to his very well researched buildtrees.
- I've downloaded @kszac's 32 and 64 bit versions to try both, I've downloaded the correct buildtrees (gxbb_p200_1G_100M.dtb as dtb.img) for my boxes, and I've moved the recovery.img over from the original ROM's.
- These s905 boxes do have the reset button behind the AV port. Unfortunately, no amount of pressing that button, no amount of time, will get me into Recovery. I've tested dozens of different methods.
- To enter Recovery, the only thing that has worked so far is issuing a "Reboot Recovery" from a Terminal Emulator
Methods I've used for attempting to enter recovery:
- Hold Reset (on this box it's behind AV port) - tested 50+ different boots, different ROM's, no luck
- Shorting the Reset-switch's pins (in case the switch itself is not triggering properly) - tested a dozen-plus times, no luck
- Use an Andriod Terminal Emulator to Reboot to recovery (or reboot update)- This does boots to the stock-recovery but it will not boot / run the SD version of @kszac's build.
Methods I've attempted to use for install:
- Booting off the SD using Rufus-Built img.gz versions. I cannot get it to run after testing 30+ attempts (32 & 64 bit builds + gxbb_p200_1G_100M.dtb as dtb.img + recovery.img)
- Booting from USB Flash using Rufus-Built img.gz - (same results: cannot get it to boot)
- Booting to a SD prepared with the LibreElec USB Boot Maker, supplying it with @kszac's custom .img.gz - (same results: cannot get it to boot)
- Flashing the .ZIP version directly from recovery (with proper dtb.img and recovery.img in the root). This flashes successfully, but will not boot after flash.
- Using "Backup & Update" app in the Android firmware to specify the .ZIP build
So far, the only working option:
Using terminal emulator to reboot to recovery. Then, flash the .ZIP (because nothing I've tried will allow me to boot to the SD/USB to test without burning a new system image).The problem is that after booting, the system is simply stuck on the logo image. The only way I can fix this is to flash in AmLogic's "USB Burning Tool" with my original Android firmware. Then try it all over again with a different version.
The only time I ever notice any sort of error, or anything out of the ordinary, is when flashing, I notice that it cannot mount the "/misc" partition to erase it. There is nothing else that indicates anything is wrong.
In summary, I have a couple questions to determine next-steps:
- Is there another way to force this to boot to the SD / USB to run these images without burning the image, considering all the options I've attempted do not work?
- Is there a build I can install using Amlogic's "USB Burning Tool", rather than flashing through Recovery (allow me to test more builds rather than having to re-flash original stock ROM every time)?

I have a Beelink MiniMXIII not the same as you, I have used the realtek version of the dtb. Perhaps you could try that on yours?

However, I would plug the box directly into your router with another network cable, just to check.
Or, you could install Libreelec to sd card & try that. I think my wifi is much better with Libreelec. ( not really applicable I know)
Good morning all. What is the proper build for the Matricom Gbox Q2 with the S812 chip? I read the posts but they have multiple links in the thread from 6.95 to 7.02. Also some links refer to the M8, M8S and M82. I want the newest STABLE version that will work. The Matricom firmware is bloated and full of bugs.

If you install to a micrsd card, it will not do anything to the android version.
Hey @ allI used OpenElec Kodi 15.2 and just wanted to Update to the latest Version from the download section.
So i did everything as in the video, downloaded the manual file, and pasted it in the "Update" Section of my Pi.I restarted the System, all was shown as okay, and all seemed to be updated, but now it stucks in a Bootloop. Showing the Jarvis Logo for 2 secs with a following reboot. What can I do? Please help.

I don't have a Pi, but did you put the tar file in the update folder (which is correct) or the img.gz (which is not correct)
tar is to go from openelec to libreelec, img.gz is to update libreelec to a newer version.

I've tried the HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool but the Virtual CD Drive with that damn software on it wont disappear. I tried Diskpart in cmd.exe but no luck either.
Please any other suggestions? Having to restart my box several times every time I want to use it is really annoying.

Are you sure it is not a network problem. Running over wifi could be the cause of buffering.
I'm trying to access the box via windows network environment but it won't show me the LibreElec Network device although it is connected to my routers network output and name and IP are shown by my router. LAN access and SSH are activated in my libreElec settings and connection via SSH is working too.
What do I have to do? I'd like to make a backup of my gen.xml before updating to build 011.
To get to the userdata folder I would use coreftplite. password is libreelec I think
Hi guys,I am just losing my nerves (and hopes) and therefore need your help with my Nexbox Ottbox MXQ 4K Pro (S905).
I went from 008 to 009, but realized there are some freezes sometimes, so I went back to 008.
Unfortunately, I had no sound anymore, why I decided to do a fresh installation (again).
Now comes the pain: It is ABSOLUTELY NOT possible to boot into Libreelec, no matter what I do.
I tried these:
Rufus and Libreelec Tool
006, 007, 008 (with the according device tree each time ... and those versions used to work without a problem)
Two different SD cards (8 GB and 32 GB) from different brands (Sandisk, ...).
I tried just ALL of the possible combinations, but I ALWAYS end up at the Android recovery, when using the toothpick method. Even when doing the fake zip thing by going in Android into the update app and choosing one of those existing three zips the reboot leads me directly to Android recovery, not to the Libreelec bootup.
Something seems to be messed up on my Android/internal storage or otherwise I cannot explain that to myself, but I am no pro here.
Does anyone know what to do now? I am really frustrated now, because I wasted over four hours to solve this, but I am not getting anywhere ... and tonight friends are coming over to watch something together. :\

Just to make sure the microsd cards are ok, try using Lowvel Lowvel - Free Tool to Zero-Fill Storage Devices to zero fill the card, it will also tell you if you have bad blocks.
I use rufus as well, so use that to burn the correct image, AFTER that, then add the correct device tree. Then using the pinhole method try again.
Sorry, thats all I can suggest. I do not know what images or trees to use.
Ah, ok, thx - I thought it wont boot from sd card, once you installed to internal. Didn`t even try.

Could try the pinhole method to get it to boot from sd,
But frankly, I have never installed to NAND. I think running from sd is quick enough, & I can boot android for skype if I want.

Hey,So the included remotes in nexbox and beelink works, but not great with button layout since its not android anymore.
Is there a god cheap remote that works with theese boxes, im guessing it needs to be IR since you cant turn the box on with bluetooth dongle remotes?

I use a Logitech 350 £25 ish, it works well with my nuc. But there is a post on the forum that uses a Pivos xios config in conjunction with the logitech working with Libreelec

there is an addon for kodi called fresh start, you will need to google.
i have a Nuc DN2820 running Libreelec from a usb & an Amlogic S905 running from a microsd I can't say I have seen much of a difference. If speed is important, install to NAND.
If you're just accessing /storage why bother using anything other than Explorer
