Well I guess it depends on the resolution you want to use. I can play many games even on a J3455-ITX board with a rather slow Apollo-Lake Celeron with it's IGP but obviously it's not the best experience you can achieve. WiiU is actually problematic on Linux because CEMU would need Wine & I have no clue if GitHub - decaf-emu/decaf-emu: Researching Wii U emulation. is already in an useable state. But GC/Wii/3DS works pretty much perfectly fine.

Basically any recent (!) i5 NUC should do the job without hassle but they aren't exactly cheap, also you could look for AMD Ryzen based barebones which should also be quite fine to play those games. If I where you I would look for a nice Mini-ITX case & board, probably at least an AMD Athlon 3000G or better, some dual channel RAM & a m.2 SSD.

Not exactly cheap either but you can swap all parts in the future and still have a small, silent & "pretty" system.

Could you test other SNES cores? You've used Snes9x to run your games? Could you test bsnes or Snes9x2010 just to make sure the core isn't faulty?

There are already some fixes done - to test it I would add „master“ in packages/graphics/mesa/package.mk but what to write to SHA256?

use a terminal & change into the root of your build directory, then run scripts/get mesa after you've updated the git commit. Then it will download the new version & generate a SHA256 hash, you can also use # to comment the line out, won't hurt in 99,9% usecases.

Yes - I've tested it with my steam files & copy pasted the folder structure of the installation of my desktop id games into the matching folders & then you load the content in Retroarch, chose the matching core and it should start.

I've also patched boom3 a bit, this core looks a bit WIP to since it does not save any settings so I've disabled inverted y axis & set a default res of 720p

Well I'm afraid... I have had the same problem & the retroarch desktop does not work with KMS at all. I'm probably removing it from my build anyway because it doesn't work. Might be a small problem but since I can't use WIMP gui in KMS mode - not worth the hassle.

It did not work or you did not try it because you've used a different approach? Because your approach basically disables the usage of EDID data and manually forces a certain resolution.

Well backing up Kodi add-ons which have updated Kodi 19 versions probably works as tvheadend proved but backing up the .config folder & restoring it is literally the thing I tell people not to do because that's exactly the way to generate a broken build ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

My best results with the current state is HEVC 720p/1080p 30FPS, and ignore completly the H.264 decoder if it is possible.

What does convert 60fps to 30fps? Or did you run 4k@30Hz and moonlight-qt? Though I also own 2 Samsung 4k smart TVs I only test my stuff with an AVR which is connected to a 1080p TV. I guess the overall performance is not good enough at the moment to run 4k@60Hz perfectly fine.

According to a RPi engineer the RPi4 has an own block to decode HEVC in hardware while H.264 will be decoded by MMAL. The v4l2 decoder for H.264 is not as fast as the MMAL one & needs a rewrite to achieve similar performance. So right now there is no way to decode H.264 with moonlight proper on a RPi4 with LE, maybe it would work with MMAL but LE removed all blob APIs for reasons.

All in all people probably should get rid of the idea to use a $40 SBC for 4k@60Hz At least for now

Out of curiosity: could you force 1080p@60Hz by using this resolution in Kodi or by config.txt? Ideally there would be an additional option in moonlight to set the stream size but also the KMS mode.

Well you alter/set the resolution of your gaming host/stream & not the resolution of the actual client. I guess the RPi4 struggles to render 4k properly. ElBoluTony made some similar experiences.

I guess so, when I included the core there was not much information about it so I guess adding the files as dhewm3 mentioned in a directory and load them with the core should be fine.

ElBoluTony  alisson please test LibreELEC-RPi4.arm-10.0-RR-20210323-5422dc4.img.gz moonlight should still work but detect the correct render mode without forced environment flags.

So looks like the device was detected - when you enter LE settings & the bt menu the light does not start to steadily flicker/light up? Does some devices show up at all?
