RIP my dreams about LibreELEC
Simply get a supported USB wifi adapter. I tested several that I own (with various Realtek chipsets, if I remember correctly) and they all worked and have better reception than the builtin ones. They cost less than 8€.

Tried it on S905X. Removed all the other settings from autostart, entered the new, rebooted and played a video. Screen turned pink after a few minutes. Nothing in the dmesg after the change to pink.
8.1.10-rc1 in OP. Due to Broadcom driver update I call it a "release candidate", please report any new issues over 8.1.9. Remember that you can always downgrade to a previous 8.1.x build with no data wipe, simply follow updating steps.
Software decoded h264 10bit video in 720p resolution is sometimes not played smoothly with this version on my S905X test box. Interestingly the CPU load displayed only shows 60-70%, but the video is laggy. This problem is not persistent, sometimes it works fine, restarting the same video can result in smooth playback where it failed before. Is software decoded video using the same framebuffer as the GUI?
Thanks for trying and testing that. I can only wonder how many cents the makers of the cheap boxes save by switching to SCI.
Judgeing from the pcb pictures on freaktab (Tanix TX3 MINI - Amlogic S905W (New SoC) - Android 7.1.1 - FreakTab.com), you will be out of luck. It is the same wifi chip that shows up in many newer cheap boxes and there is no driver source code available. We discussed the chip here: [S905X] Unknown WLAN chip
Avok78 Please provide sample files that do not work on your box.
Strange, I also have Denon AVR (X3100W) and no issue with DTS-HD HRA, latest firmware (updated 2 months ago).
Apparently several models (I have an X1200W) use a specific chipset that is problematic while others work. See the kodi discussion thread.
Same problem here. Earlier today i noticed that all my DTS-HR didn't play, thought it was a bug in the latest AVR firmware that was released a couple of day's ago. But now I'm not so sure.
I also had problems with DTS-HRA and my Denon AVR, and discussed it here with the Kodi people: DTS-High Resolution. What's the score?
Denon claims that HRA plays fine from blueray players in their tests, kodi developers claim they follow the standard and point to their code as proof. I use an older firmware, that plays the HD-HRA stream, but this is limited to 5.1 for whatever reason. Newer firmwares fall back to the DTS core.
Test build for "no signal" issue when playing 3D content:
Index of /s905/8.2/test/20170815/
People with RGB issue can also test it. Please use the old sysfs option to turn RGB mode on, i.e. /sys/class/amhdmitx/amhdmitx0/output_rgb
I tried it today on the S905X, picture turns pink after a few minutes.
I would be interested in a sample
Try fixed bitrate instead of constant quality. My CRF tests looked worse than constant bitrate ones, even if the file size was not too different.
Unfortunately, all builds show the same issue.
10bit videos are not being displayed at proper image quality -> double contours.
This is odd, I have a few encodes in HEVC 10bit, some of which I did myself to test picture quality for different settings. Same-bitrate 10bit and 8bit HEVC files from a high quality source are undiscernable (to me, at least) when played on the S905. I most certainly never had any trouble with double contours. Also all European 4k DVB-S2 transmissions are 10bit HEVC, I would have noticed any visible image quality problems.
Maybe it is something specific to the encode? Did you do it yourself?
You could try jokerzbox retroarch for S905, but I do not know if it will work on S912 with missing drivers:
You can install his repository from here: JoKeRzBoX_LibreELEC_Repo_S905/repository.jokerzbox_libreelec_s905-1.0.0.zip at master · JoKeRzBoX/JoKeRzBoX_LibreELEC_Repo_S905 · GitHub
Nice tip, thank you. I checked it with planet earth II, it is indeed a slight bit sharper. As I do not use any image enhancement on my tv, it was noticable.
The framerate switching in the newer kernel is different. If your TV takes a longer time to show the picture after the framerate has changed, you can use the settings to set a delay accordingly.
Yes.
Use older releases that still use the marshmallow kernel.
I agree, you should try to find the correct settings on the tv and not use the kodi screen calibration at all unless you really need to. Some tvs require you to set the hdmi port as "PC" or "computer" to disable overscan. Best check online with your tv model nr.
It a p201 board -> so pick the right S905 dtb that has p201 in its name
