So what you're saying is that it plays without crashing, but you have no idea if it is outputting actual 3D?

Update:
Good news:
All videos from the 3D samples section of the Kodi Wiki play here on the RPi-4 with 9.2.4
Also, where did you get v9.2.4? I see this thread:
LibreELEC Testbuilds for RaspberryPi (Kodi 19.0)
Which has a Millhouse build from 7/17. Is that it?
All videos from the 3D samples section of the Kodi Wiki play here on the RPi-4 with 9.2.4 .. when it is connected to a (2560x1440) PC monitor
Is that PC monitor 3D? It properly plays 3D-MVC?
but the display is still showing two images.
I haven’t tried any of the millhouse builds yet because I am still using the Pi3B+. When the Pi4 has a release that supports 3-D I will start messing with it. I have tried the native LE build with 2D and it worked fine a few months back.
When you say it’s still had to images are you talking about 3D-MVC?

Sorry for the very late reply. Here is a list someone else compiled.
You're sorry! It's been 6 months for me!
I have seen that thread before and it has a lot of good info, especially if you want a ready to go box. However, my goal is to use an open source platform like LibreELEC to do this on a Pi.
I know there are other things out there that will do both
What solutions are those?
Intel NUC Kit NUC7PJYH will do everything you need.
Will it handle 3D-MVC like a RPi can (3B+) and is slated to in the future (RPi4B)?
That's why I suggest 9.0.x for all RPi lower than version 4.
I "updated" last night. The update itself went fine and it's now running the 9.02 version.
However, when I go in and check for updates it still shows that version being available to upgrade to.
So I ran it again and same thing. Is that normal?
My suggestion is to "update" to 9.0.2, because 9.1.x has known errors
Isn't 9.1.X the only version that runs on the Pi4? I know that's a side question. I'm just trying to make sure I understand.
Thanks!
I am running LibreELEC v9.1.002 on a Pi3B+. That in itself is not a problem. Works great!
However, I have an extensive Plex infrastructure with a server, multiple clients, DVR, etc. All my family members use and like Plex. I prefer the interface myself over Kodi. I'm not here to compare the two or discuss switching to Kodi. I use LibreELEC for the ability to play 3D-MVC. So I installed the Plex For Kodi add-on which gives me the Plex interface and user-account-based login, library access etc but also the ability to play 3D-MVC......ostensibly......
However, when I run it in LibreELEC (as compared to the old OpenELEC or just Kodi) it will launch and run, but with some issues. My Plex library is there, I can browse, change users, etc. However, if I try to play a 3D-MVC movie (one that plays fine in LibreELEC natively) I get that pop-up screen asking me how I want Kodi to treat it:
Problem is I can't do anything in that panel. I can't navigate it with the remote and I even hooked up a mouse to it and still can't click on it. All I can get are the Kodi controls on the bottom. It's like there is a clear Plex or Kodi screen on top of that popup windows that is keeping me from "touching" the popup window to select anything or even click "OK". The Kodi control work, but obviously I can't see most of the screen and I can't tell Kodi what 3D mode I want to run it in.
Second problem is that if I hit "Stop" on the remote or "Back" as per Plex control, it just completely stop and gives me a black screen. System isn't locked up. I can reboot it via SSH, but that's the ONLY way I can get it to do anything. I can't get back to any other screen.
I know LibreELEC doesn't make this plugin but I'm curious if anyone here has used it successfully .
Thanks!
For anyone who wants to know, I originally installed v9.1 on the 3B+. When I ran 3D-MVC videos (possibly with all of them, but I didn't add anything but MVC to my Kodi library yet) the video would stutter/stop a lot and was not really usable.
When i went into the update repositories and checked for LibreElec updates it said it found one, but it was the v9.02 version, which is actually a LOWER version number. I let it "update" the system and it ran stable after that.
I'm guessing the v9.1 series is still beta maybe?
Until the RPi4 came out all RPis didn't contain any flash/eeprom chips with firmware, everything was part of the OS / sdcard.
With the RPi4 things changed a bit, it now has an eeprom with the bootloader firmware and another one with the USB controller firmware.
so long,
Hias
Thank you for the explanation. Being new to the Pi other than installing an imagine and using it, I wasn't sure.
QuoteWhen you said:
I've tested updating the USB controller firmware from LibreELEC (as described in the article, just drop "sudo" as it's not needed in LE) and it worked fine.
You ran a command line in LE? How did you do that? All I see is the GUI.
The link seems to suggest that it is a firmware update. Without knowing exactly what the program does, the best solution is to create a new SD card and install Raspbian. Run the commands under Raspbian and once complete and the version check is correct. Reboot with your LE SD card and all should be fine.
So is there normally a need for updating firmware that is independent of the OS itself or is that normally part of the OS in the Pi world?
I have a Pi4B that is running LibreELEC but definitely runs hot.
I found this article:
If you bought a Raspberry Pi 4, grab this firmware update to improve performance | PC Gamer
Which links to this one:
Raspberry Pi 4 temperature - Page 4 - Raspberry Pi Forums
What I don't understand is whether this is something I have to do independent of LibreELEC. Is firmware updated with LE releases or is it a strictly hardware thing that has to be done separately or....?
Sorry, I'm not an expert here. Thanks for the information and help!
Yes Pi3 builds support 3D
Does it matter which build i use whether it's v9.0 or 9.1?
I assume the 9.1 is the latest and preferred build, but when you go to that page the 9.0 build (middle tab) is selected by default so I don't know what the difference is.
Thanks!
