No the widevine keys are totally unrelated. the problem is there is no hardware-level decoding of Amazon/Netflix streams with Kodi... at least not for Amlogic devices anyway, I can't speak for other platforms. You may be able to bump it up to 720p but I don't know as I don't have an Amazon account, I'm sure somebody here with one will be able to answer that question more than I can.

The problem with Netflix on Kodi is that only S/W decoding is supported, 720p should would fine.
Thanks, I don't actually have a Netflix account right now but I tried Amazon and it streamed at 576p. Would that bump up any higher if I had the widewine keys installed?

I've got a KI Pro with LE9 flashed to the NAND, do I need to reinstall Android and install the Widewine keys, then flash back to LE to get HD with Netflix and Amazon? Thanks.

I notice the new Amazon Fire TV box will be using a Amlogic S905z. Anyone know much about that chip? Will Amazon using Amlogic help in way with drivers, etc.?

I was meaning more do the manufacturer updates fix anything in the partitions that the LE install doesn't touch, the under the hood type stuff. Like in the bootloader, etc.
Is there ever any benefit of flashing newer manufacturer supplied firmwares for TV boxes, then coming back to LE? Do they fix any issues that LE can't? I notice the KI Pro gets the occasional update supplied over @ Mecool KI PRO Hybrid Android TV Box with Amlogic S905D SoC, DVB-T2 & DVB-S2 Tuners Sells for $80. The most recent is date September 5th and I think my box came with one dated some time in Aprril or May.

Has anyone noticed degraded preformance when using a wired connection?. seems to be constant buffering and files not being served quick enough over Wired but fine over wifi on my system.
I have had some odd buffering (video stopping and spinning blue circle mid screen) recently but I thought it was my server playing up. It's possible it was the box.
I am investigating more and have found that the problem is that many DVB-T muxes fail scanning in TVHeadEnd finding zero services, while using the USB pen I have the same muxes work perfectly.
The strange thing is that if I use the DVB app installed in the onboard Android, even with all its weaknesses (primarly, many out-of-sync issues), the DVB-T scan using the internal tuner finds all the channels that I don't find in Libreelec!
I've had similar issues with my KI Pro. Mine couldn't find any channels on the muxes 777.833mhz and and 745.833mhz but manually changing them to 778mhz and 746mhz allowed it to find the channels. My TV and old USB dongle have no problems.
Also you can try to use my testing version corresponding to LE 8.1.5

I installed that build on my KI Pro (out of curiosity mainly) and have found a couple of times after coming back to the box the screen is as the screenshot below, rebooting fixes it. I'm on a regular non-HDR 1080p TV. Logs attached.

I think kszaq means the dmesg output or other logfiles from a putty console. no soldering required...
I haven't tried but I doubt I'd be able to SSH into the device as it's locks before it loads LE

Hi. not sure if that patch was to fix the issue I was having with it hanging on the Mecool logo but it hung again on the second boot after flashing.
Yes sometimes, to solve this I removed the microsd card and USB before reboot the device.
Ahh weird, I have got a SD card installed so maybe that's causing it.
Are there any known issues with the S905D and temp sensor builds? I Flashed the regular version to my KI Pro and it occasionally hangs on the Mecool logo like builds would with the sensors enabled on my Mini MX III.
Just to follow on from this I'm getting hangs on the Mecool logo with the "sensor disabled" build too. Anyone else experience this?
