I'm having a bit of an issue with tvheadend. Everything is working great with zap2xml. However, about every other day I will pull up tvheadend in my browser and find nothing listed under Electronic Program Guide. When I check the configuration I see that the EPG source list is completely blank and I will have to set each one again. After I reboot the box everything will be back up and running fine. At least for the next couple of days. Thoughts?

Thankyou edit4ever.
This will be extremely helpful. I speak as someone who has keyed in all the frequencies they needed.

Hallelujah! That did it.
What a PITA! Of course,99.9% was me not having any idea what I was doing.
I can certainly understand you wanting to make this process easier. On the bright side I now understand the process of setting it up much better than I would have.
I owe you one. If I can ever help, just let me know.
I certainly don't want my PITA statement being misinterpreted. I appreciate what you and others have done.

I did some additional testing on another box that I have...when I used the TVguide data I had the same issue you are having. When I switched to zap2it data the programs loaded. Looks like there is a code issue in my program for tvguide that is keeping tvheadend from loading the programs. If you change to zap2it in the zap2xml addon. You'll need to reboot...then go into the tvheadend web interface and change the epg source to the zap2it listing instead of the tvguide listing. Once you do that, you can rerun the internal grabber (might take two times) and you should see programs load.
I'll take a look at my tvguide code and see what is going on there - but let me know if this works for you!

ok good - BTW you can have that field displayed in the channel tab window...not sure why it's missing on yours. Just click on the drop down icon on one of the column names and select the field to have it appear in the window.

OK everything looks right here. I would suggest leaving it like it is overnight. It will autoupdate the guide overnight and if we're lucky start pulling the program data. NOt sure why it isn't just working now, but it looks like all your settings are right. The only other setting I see different from mine is on the epg grabber tab. I have the Channel Numbers (heuristic) setting disabled. I don't know why that would cause any issue but if you want to disable it and set the priority to 1 before you leave it for the night - that's my last suggestion for now. Thanks! I will disable it just in case and give it a shot. Fingers crossed.

can you post the channels tab screen grab with the epg source field in the screen?
[hr]
the scanfile stuf is the predefined mux data for the other regions in the world. You likely didn't see them as you didn't have the log window open early enough in the past. It's not relevant for us.I think this is what you are asking for...
-
another way to make sure they are connected is to enable the update channel name button on the epg grabber tab - you should see the channel names change to the station number/name that is in the xmltv file.
[hr]
also - I think you'll need to turn off the automatically name from network button on the channels tab.Ok. I turned off the automatic name from network. Rebooted and got the log below. I don't recall seeing the scanfile lines before.

for now - on the channels tab try turning off the automatically map epg source buttons and manually select the epg source for each channel - then post that screen again.
[hr]
It is likely that the channel is not mapping to teh epg source since you have the automatically name the network button checked - which is using the names that the stations want and not the call letters that are in the epg data. Hopefully if you manually map the epg source it will solve that issue. When I turned the check boxes off and set them manually the correct feeds were checked. I unchecked and rechecked them. Don't know that it helped any.

Please post a screen grab of the channels tab. Also - open the log window...and from the epg grabber tab press the rerun internal grabber button and post the log result. Here you go...

Pretty sure I got everything setup and still nothing in the Electronic Program Guide.
I cleared everything before installing 4.2 from the repo.
The grab is being performed and it is populated.
Here are the three epg screen grabs ....

I just rebooted and I have one program showing in the Guide. Nothing else though... at least it's progress. -
I apologize - in copying and pasting the frequencies - I moved the numbers in the wrong direction. All the Khz numbers on the list should be 6 lower then what I sent you. My mistake. Here's an updated list:
Sorry about that!
Not a problem. I probably deserve it.
Going to quit for a while and watch the Olympic Opening Ceremony with the family.
I'll let you know what happens.
-
which 2?
557 and 683. WNCN and WRAZ
Tried another scan and the others still aren't being seen.
-
Only 2 of the 7 passed the scan. Double checked the frequencies. Going to have to play around a little more.
-
OK...
Pulled the sdcard and loaded a fresh install of LE 7.90.003
Installed the last version of 4.2 that contained the working list of muxes:from the link you provided and installed the update
The web interface will not work.I'm going to uninstall and clean it up and install 4.2 from the repo.
I will then need some guidance on installing the muxes manually....

ok - seems strange. Let's confirm a few things...First - you are running a raspberry pi 3 and libreelec 7.0.2?
Raspberry Pi 3. Late last night I decided WTF nlet's try libreelec 7.90.003 Alpha.... Maybe not the best decision for troubleshooting. Didn't change results.
You have been able to run and web access tvheadend addon 4.0 but not 4.2 from the LE repository?
Installed 4.0 from LE repo and had web interface.
Installed 4.2 from LE repo and hadweb interface. Just NO muxe list.
Installed the version from the link you supplied and no web interface.
Applied the Update and still no web interface.I have always uninstalled before reinstalling and never have had more than one installed at a time. Just didn't know about deleting the user settings manually.
What happened when you deleted all the files in the \\LIBREELEC\Userdata\addon_data\service.tvheadend42\channel folder? (likely the 4.0 folder instead)
Not near the machine now. I did notice that nothing was held from the previous install.
You have tried uninstalling all versions of the tvheadend addon and then through another computer deleted all tvheadend folders in the \\LIBREELEC\Userdata\addon_data folder?
I haven't tried this. I may try it tonight.
One thing we can check is what is getting downloaded...it seems from the log that zap2xml is running and pulling data. From your windows computer, go to the following folder \\LIBREELEC\Userdata\addon_data\tools.module.zap2xml
You should see an xmltv.xml file there:
Here is the file:
You can see that it is populated so the problem has to be with tvheadend.
I will do as you ask and make sure all folders are deleted and reinstall. Hopefully that will get me there. I really appreciate the time you have taken to help me out with this.

I know it doesn't show in this thread, but, I'm pretty computer savvy.
I can't seem to get 4.0 working. The video that was put together used 4.0. However, it was on an android box. Just perhaps there is a difference there.
For the life of me I can't access 4.2 through the web interface so that is a no go.
Where did you get the tvheadend 4.2 build that you linked through dropbox? I know you said that was the original LE version.
