    I agree.

Would you be so kind to do so? ( if you have the time of course)

I'll create a new thread for this if I find some time.

5schatten i noticed in your latest build jou changed in ES the scraper.

I read somewhere that screenscraper is capable of scraping videosnaps.

Do i need to set this up in es conffig files or os this going automaticly if they are avaible?

Well yes no maybe. TheGamesDB updated it's API and dropped the legacy one so ES needed a reworked interface to scrape fanart. This does not automatically mean you can scrape more stuff. ES needs to pull all of those stuff otherwise use a thrid party tool.

And yes just check the thread from time to time, download the new image, place it in your update folder and reboot. If anything else is needed I'll make some notes to the changelog.

No I dont use those addons. Here is the full zip file from 4 days ago. It actually should show how Im starting Retroarch and resolution changes automatically between 1080p and 2160p. Maybe it also shows that ES is shrinked to the corner and gets normal after some further tries. And it should also show that Retroarch on 2160p crashs if I start a game. However its already a few days ago and I dont know exactly what I tried to record. You dont have to look at it you can also wait until Im able to create a new logfile (I gave my NUC back for a few days).

As I said I don't use 4k screens but never experienced too small screens in ES. I've included a Quake2 client that had this behaviour too but only if it's not set to fullscreen.

No, I didnt use the config file of my AML box for the NUC. I just wrote down what video options on my AML box were turned on/off and tested them for my NUC. However I stucked in black screen when I started a game and wasnt able to reverse the settings. So I restored the config file of your build that I've saved straight after installation. However with the default settings Retroarch always closed if I started a game. And I noticed that the enabled fullscreen mode could be the reason for that. Because when I started Retroarch on your build for the first time it already didnt work. After some time it suddenly worked. I had no clue why. When I compared the settings from my AML box and the NUC I noticed that fullscreen mode on my NUC is disabled. I couldnt enable it in Retroarch for some reason so I changed it in the config file and then Retroarch didnt work anymore. By disabling it Retroarch started working again.

NUC =! ARM stuff... the x86 based systems come with xorg server so they rely on an windows system program while the arm build directly rencer the stuff to the framebuffer. So you can't excactly compare them unless they run the same system software.

Maybe the log files above can explain something.

Another question: I was thinking about giving my NUC back and spend 50 euros more for a small upgrade (NUC7PJYH with an Intel Pentium J5005 chip). However that probably wouldnt change much, would it? Because - I dont know if its up to date - I have read that pcsx2 and ppsspp dont support quad cores.

And a request: Yesterday I tried to backup my savegame from a wii game. However I noticed that it is a bit complicated since savegames and other user files like screenshots get stored in /var/share/dolphin-emu ... or was it /storage/.local/share/dolphin.. something like that, sorry cant check anymore. Anyways since its only accessable by using ssh I wondered if you could change that path somehow maybe to the config file folder or something like that. It was even better if I could change the savegame path to my sd card. I tried this command:

The J4005 was fine the J5005 has 4 cores 4 threads while the celeron has 2 cores / 4 threads. Both have a TDP of 10W so when they run hot I suspect the J5005 will throttle earlier. The thing is both are faster than any arm stuff but not as fast as an i3 or else. IMHO the J5005 is too expensive and won't let you run PCSX2 or Beetle-PSX too. If you really want to run all games then you've to buy a mini-itx system with a small i3 or AMD Ryzen 3 2200G, 4x 3.50GHz, boxed ab â¬Â 91,90 (2019) | Preisvergleich Geizhals Deutschland or Intel Pentium Gold G5400, 2x 3.70GHz, tray ab â¬Â 70,92 (2019) | Preisvergleich Geizhals Deutschland

For emulation your need high IPC & high clock frequencies. For high resolutions you'll need a "decent" IGP too but things get expensive then.

About the Dolphin dir -> I've changed to path so you can access & backup your data by copying the dolphin-emu dir in configfiles.

shown here but it didnt work. Putty said something like permission denied..

Ah and I have 4gb memory. Is that to little? Because when I enabled debug logging a few days ago it showed my something like 320487/350948

4GB of RAM are enough as long as they come as 2x2GB for dual channel speed. When I play GT4 it uses about 4GB of RAM.

I understand that, but for the average jane/john doe it is necessary to know how it works, so at least add this info to the download section or howto.

That way it is clear how it works.

Point is that if you install the addon it simply won't work right away, witch could lead to frustration.. (i found out how it works by reading the code)

I agree that "Addon setting management" would be necessary to for full all possible needs and i do understand that it is no priority for you, but it may have priority to your users. It is just a thought.

It's probably a better to opt out this addon from this thread and create a dedicated one.

is this issue still prevelent? been using batocera linux for a while but would prefer to have this as my primary os.

    Yes it's still present

Does anyone know if Generic Intel x86 builds allows for DRM/KMS Vulkan equivalent for Retroarch ? On Intel drivers.

On my Intel system Vulkan & KMS works together.

hi hope someone can help I'm looking to get moonlight working for libreelec so i can stream my games from my pc?

This says it has it does it work?

    Thanks

    FAQ

Well from my pov you ask a lot of question that would have been answered in FAQs or Wikis of the emulator in question. So I have the impression you don't read them... also you don't follow basic steps like providing full sets of log files & if you think you did not understand something then ask first. I mean there is a complete how to available Provide Log File [LibreELEC.wiki] and still you deny to upload it. Personally I don't care if you have some fancy porn addons or anything else installed which might leave some notes in the log too as long as you don't expect support for them /shrug:D

Anyway you have to deal with the psx situation for now until beetle-psx get's a Dynarec Dynamic recompiler [$895] [BOUNTY] · Issue #214 · libretro/beetle-psx-libretro · GitHub which is already included in PCSX reARMed since a while.

If you restore old config files of an ancient Retroarch ARM build on a recent Generic build you should not expect it to run. I guess it should be obvious that quite a lot of settings are not updated or just invalid.

About the resolution hazzle... well I use no 4k screens so I can't test this. But since Generic builds come with xserver it should not matter since the underlaying window system works for lower resolutions too. PPSSPP failed to switch to fullscreen in the past because it wasn't enabled at default but was fixed a while ago.

If I would rework the MakeMKV Addons this way you would lose the ability to use your own key you've paid for or I had to create an Addon setting management something just for this purpose and honestly this has no high priority for me. You either can update the key once in a while or buy one and enter it to the config file :/

im blanking hard, was WHDLoading in Amiberry ever solved some time back or?i decided to give up on my A500 till i can afford to repair the thing (it needs so much work i imho think im better off selling it and getting something like an A1200) and setup my older Pi3B (not the +) w/ RR, for Amiberry and WHDloading when possible over Floppy ADF Loading,

Well I wasn't aware that WHDLoad was broken in Amiberry in any build for me. If you have valid Kickstarts and roms in proper WHDLoad format it works in all builds /shrug

I've set all of my tv's to a PC input mode and let my HTPC handle the screen format. My N64 games are displayed in 4:3 or 16:9 depending on what I set in mupen64plus.cfg so if you've set it to forced 4:3 and it's still 16:9 your tv probably changed the aspect ratio :/

t want to play them in 4k -_- I just want atleast the same video quality like before on my AML S905X box. I tested both Beetle PSX and Beetle PSX HW. I dont know why it looks so bad but you have seen the screenshot didnt you? It looks much better on my AML S905X box. And the only way I got the same result was by increasing the internal resolution.

You want to increase the resolution by 4 to 8 times so. I already did the math for you  I don't see how your S905X box has better graphics than mine because I'm not able to increase the resolution in my builds. I have no clue which build or image you used before on your S905X or what specifc version of PCSX reARMed that had superior graphics.

Its all weird. I just changed a few settings and couldnt start the core anymore (it stucked in blackscreen). So I restored my old config file and now I again cant start any cores. It brings me back to kodi main menu. Is it because fullscreen mode? First it was disabled and starting cores worked. Then I tried to enable it but no success I always ended up in kodi after changing it. After restoring my old config file fullscreen mode is enabled but I also end up in kodi after starting a core.

    What settings? What old config?

And by the way I need 3 attempts to open Retroarch in 1080p because it changes to 2160p all the time. Also ES sometimes start in small size (same like ppsspp).

ES should always use the xrand resolution so 2160p or else. What is "in small size"? PPSSPP should start in fullscreen if it is set to fullscreen.

And what is wrong with those logfiles? I activate debug logging start retroarch to reproduce my issue and all I get is what happened after closing retroarch.

Are you kidding me? Have you read any of my posts at the beginning of this thread?!

Does this link https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/qxfxds5nxn/ look like an zip file or any emulation related file to you or anyone else?! You've uploaded a Kodi logfile while Retroarch does not work? I really thought user are able to distinguish between "oh crap my Kodi is broken, lets get some Kodi logfiles" and "oh crap my Retroarch is broken, lets get some Retroarch logfiles"

You think it's frustrating? Sorry but from my perspective you've just clicked the download link, installed an image and expect this to be a free out-of-the-box-tl:dr solution. I've spent ages to get things together and you're not in mood to read the FAQ or anything else of this stuff? And you still expect me to iron out your problems? Congratz!

Gosh thank you so much for this. Yesterday I spent hours for creating that damn map file with Knoppix and just failed. It was so frustrating.

In PCSX2 my controller works. Its only about PPSSPP.

Do you mean PS1 games by saying advanced emulated 3D games? I know that PCSX_Rearmed has lower requirements than beetle hw but since PCSX_Rearmed hat this stupid restart bug that makes it impossible to play my multidisk games I really hoped being able to use beetle with this new setup. However I atleast need internal resolution x4 or x8 in beetle to contest with graphics from PCSX_Rearmed. I'll ask reddit if someone has an idea why it is so slow.

Ye I already read that. However I have no clue about cpus or hardware in general. I couldnt distinguish a toaster from a nasa pc.

So the settings in pcsx2 in your build are already the lowest possible? I thought ps2 graphics are comparable with dolphins and dolphin runs fluent. I also looked for minimal settings but often they use other plugins or change options that are grayed out in my settings. Whatever I will try to find a solution.

I highly doubt that you will need 4x to 8x times of the internal resolution to match PCSX reARMed which uses 320x240 as default.... Sony - PlayStation (PCSX ReARMed) - Libretro Docs so we're talking about 1280x960 up to 2560x1920 which is basically somewhat over HD and exceeds WHQD. If you want to run 25 year old games inalmost 4k on a NUC you have to get something like this NUC8I7HVK and spent roughly 900€ just for the barebone system.

Same goes for PCSX2 if you can't run it fluent at the base resolution your CPU is to slow. It doesn't matter if you can run Gamecube/Wii games because that system used an entirely different architecture to run games. Unless you get a NUC with at least a very recent i3 or better i5 chances are low to proper emulate all games and systems.

Btw. do you use Beetle-PSX or Beetle-PSX HW. At default the system runs Beetle-PSX and you have to change es_systems.cfg to run the hw accelerated core.

I've added this patch add Gasia Co. Ltd PS(R) Gamepad (#244) · gabomdq/SDL_GameControllerDB@8cee39f · GitHub to SDL2 so basically your controller should be supoorted by all SDL2 based emulators in my next builds. But forget about PCSX2 because it comes prebuild and as long as mainline SDL2 does not support your controller it won't work.

About the rest... well read the FAQ /shrug I don't see what I can or shall explain since it should be obvious that a low-end NUC is faster than any ARM device but is way too slow to proper play advanced emulated 3D games in 1080p :/ Also ARM builds come with PCSX_reARMed which has no 3D acceleration at all so I don't see how Beetle-PSX HW could look worse.

I linked the PCSX2 website which clearly states:

So if it runs slow your system is not fast enough. /shrug

So all in all I provide the an image & I'll provide support if something does not start at all but you have to read and configure the stuff yourself to match your system specs /shrug

Yes the core works most of the part I guess. Just my remap file doesnt work anymore. Neither in my old nor in this new retroarch version it is possible to change keys. However in the past I was able to copy the remap file of gambatte and rename it to easyrpg. That worked. However the new remap files look different and this trick doesnt work anymore. Who do I have to ask for help? The core developer or the guys from retroarch/libretro?

I now have sound both in kodi and in emulators. And everything starts. Its just.. slow. I tested the three standlone emus and some retroarch cores. And even the gameboy emulator is slow/choppy. The only emulator which seems to run fluent is dolphin. In ppsspp I also had one game which seems to run fluent and another one which is pretty slow. PCSX2 and retroarch cores are slow or choppy.

Shall I upload a log file or do you already have an idea?

And another thing is the controller config in ppsspp. Its so annoying because I dont get it. If I use my controller with ppsspp on my normal pc, running win 10 everything is ok. However if I try it in your build on my nuc it detects only one of ~12 buttons. I tried to use my settings file from my normal pc but it doesnt work. Same if I try to config it in ppsspp in your build. I already experienced that issue in niabis Sx05RE build. Its just Im running out of ideas.

edit: If emulationstation has sound while navigating then I have no sound in es. Could that be the reason? However the emulators itself have sound. Just slow/choppy.

If you can't change the keys the because they are probably hardcoded anyway such question belong to the specific libretro core and into the libretro forum and/or github repo.

It shouldn't run so slow that even Gamebatte would fail to run games proper. What resolution do you use and don't tell me 4K while you wonder why some stuff runs too slow. PCSX2 still needs a decent CPU so unless you have none you can't expect it to run at full speed.

I have no clue what kind of controller you use but I guess it's some third party china rip-off something? SDL supports a wide range of controllers so if yours is not detected you can either create a mapping file & supply it to the SDL devs or get a common controller.

If emulationstation has sound while navigating then I have no sound in es Well... what? I suspect you mean you have navigation sounds but not video preview sounds or something? Switch to PulseAudio as backend then.

    All in all....

    L
    O
    G
    S

I don't even have a clue what kind of system you actually use beside the fact that's probably an Intel NUC.

You can try to download the cores from the build bot but as I stated in my first post, which you should have read, those cores are build for a LE 8.2.x base so they can work but for example genesis-gx-plus failed for someone on his S905. The /tmp/cores directory is a virtual/overlay directory that combines the content of /usr/lib/libretro & /storage/.config/retroarch/cores so if you upload any core to the latter one Retroarch should recognize it at least after you restart.

Docker isn't included in my build and also not in vanilla LE but it's available in the standard repo. If you start PCSX2 it has to download my container first so do the math how long it takes to download 1GB for you and leave the system running for this time. And as always... and written in the first post... check out /var/log which contains the emulator logfiles. As long as PCSX2 downloads stuff it's logged in of the files.

I need your help. I have no sound. Neither in Kodi nor while gaming.

I changed the advanced.conf file and entered the command in putty. But I dont understand what device I have to choose and where I have to copy it. Thats how it looks like atm:

    sn92oyfo.jpg

I have no extra speakers but only my TV. TV and Nuc are connected by hdmi1.

First make sure your Kodi audio is working and this is not LE RR specific.

    https://kodi.wiki/view/settings/system/audio

Audio quickstart guide - Official Kodi Wiki

And here are some further questions to retro gaming:

How can I use one of my own libretro cores, where do I have to copy them? Retroarch displays that they are located in tmp/cores. Is that the full path?

While launching the libretro cores in Emulationstation work very well I have issues with the standalone emus. If I start a game for PCSX2 the screen turns black and nothing happens. Launching Dolphin leads to a black screen for like 2 seconds before it goes back to ES. And Roms for PPSSPP start but are shrinked in TV's left bottom corner.

I guess you did not read the first post of this thread otherwise you would not ask this question or are you going to compile the cores with the latest toolchain yourself? I clearly stated that Lakka cores won't run until they rebased to LE9 or something similar. Otherwise the personal cores are stored in \\yourdevice\Configfiles\retroarch\cores but don't expect support for third party cores.

Well I guess you didn't read anything of my emulator FAQ either? Dolphin crashes because you have haven't configured your audio first. PCSX2 downloads my Docker container first as stated in my FAQ and it's about 1GB in size so yeah the screen stays black until it's done. And I've answered how to fix PPSSPP fullscreen here so straight in front of your first post.

Btw. not a single log file attached?

Well this is me while debugging stuff...

    imago61210943h.jpg?itok=QdveGi-T

5schatten is possible to add cemu emulator in ES? It’s for Wii U games.

Btw i tried the last couple of days pcxs2, dolphin and some gamecube games, and all games played fine on my nuc.

Some games like god of war 2 (ps2), soul calibur 2 (ps2), mario kart double dash (GC), metroid prime (GC), soul calibur 2 (GC), mario kart wii played 1080p. With 3x native the graphics looks really great!:)

Thank you very much for this build.

Cemu is closed source windows only so needs WINE and relies on AMD/Nvidia dedicated cards to run so don't expect it in my build. Well or to be specific if they ever release an OSS version or at least Linux binaries I would give it a try. /shrug

Thanks for your response, using pcsx-rearmed instead of beetle-psx helped a tad, the sound as well as overall performance is much better now, but ti's still not at the level I'd expect it to be (it was very smooth on windows, both gfx/sound).

Yeah I know J1900 is not a performance beast, I bought it like 5 years ago and it served its purpose really well to this day, though one memory slot is now dead and I'm thinking of a replacement but not just yet ;)

Your proposed solution to PPSSSPP issue worked like a charm, thanks a lot! It's now fullscreen and very smooth at 3xPSP rendering resolution. Wish I could get similar results with other platforms.

    And my TV is 1080p.

Thanks again for your help, much appreciated!

I've added some notes to beetle-psx you can try to run the beetle-psx hw core which supports OpenGL so maybe this speeds up things for you although I had visual glitches with it but it's maybe worth a try.
