The auto update didn't work for me either. After more then a year it never auto updated it for me. So I'm glad I found this topic and now know how to do it (manually). I assumed I had to remove my micro SD card and put it my PC and use the software to 'update' it. This is such a convenience that you can do it from the OS itself.

I seem to remember that with OpenELEC you had to do it the way I just described, so even because the auto update doesn't work (for me) this is a huge step up for me. Thanks LibreELEC team!

You were right! I downgraded to 8.0.2 and it works now. Thanks for the help! I never would have figured this out on my own.

Are you a mod or admin on this forum? If yes, would it be an idea to make a (sticky) post about which NAS brands/types/firmware's etc are compatible with LE 8.1.1. So that new users or people having similar problems like me won't have to post the a similar question?

Also, which brand of NAS would you advise to get? And would 8.1.1 work with FreeNAS? As I probably prefer to build my own NAS.

I first tried to set the 'max protocol version' to SMB1, just to see if that worked. But I'm still getting the same error. Then I went in the options of my NAS and found quite some options which go way beyond my knowledge and experience.

First thing I saw for Microsoft Networking was WINS Server, this is also mentioned in Kodi under:

Settings/Services/SMB client

I added a screenshot of the options of my NAS (WINS server NAS.jpg).

Then I searched for SAMBA in my NAS and it gave me a few options one of which was an article in the help center (QNAP Microsoft Networking.jpg). You can see there that they mention 'Enable Highest SMB version'. And since it is under LDAP Domain Authentication/Advanced Settings/

So I added two more screenshots of the advanced settings under LDAP.

Is this what you were talking about? Because I have no clue how to set this up.

So I am now trying LibreELEC with my ODROID C2 and I'm getting the same error...

I attached a picture of my tv in the SMB client settings, I can't find any SMB 1 or 2 settings.

I'm having the same issue on two devices now, I hope somebody can help me out!

I was reviewing this box for a forum, but it wasn't mine and I had to return it. So I couldn't check this out anymore. Too bad... but thanks for the help chewitt!

I have no clue what Samba 1 or 2 is and I also can't find anything about it. How do I set that up?

Hello everybody,

I'm currently testing LibreELEC on a WeTek Play 2. Installation was a breeze, but when I try to add a share from my NAS I get the following error:

'Error

File exists'

When I try to access it after that I get the same error. I also tried OpenELEC and there I can just add my shares.

After that I'm getting the following error:

'Remote share

Couldn't connect to network server'

Any ideas on what might be going wrong?

It was turned off and I turned it on and checked again. But I'm still getting the same error...

I was still checking it out, but YES! That can definitely be the case. I recently heard that those licenses only costs a few euro's. So I would definitely get those. As far as I could see the the video files were pretty similar.

The second video file has even a higher bit rate then the first one and that plays fine like you say. So then one of the few things I could think of that could play a role is the type of codec. I noticed that in the properties of the first video file the compression says: Lossy. In other words, not compressed. That was one of the few thinks I noticed, but then again the bit rate of the second video is even higher and probably is compressed.

I was kind of having the same problem. Last week I was testing 4K video files to see which hardware could handle it. A 4K mp4 file with a bit rate of nearly a 100Mbps (so 100.000Kbps) played fine, but a 4K mkv video file with a bit rate of about 60Mbps stuttered and buffered like crazy. I'm still planning to find out what causes this.

What are the bit rates of the video files? And are you sure the resolution is 1080p?

I added the log file!

I have (double) checked the TMDb several times over a course of 3 days by going to Video/Files, select my movie share and then 'Scan for new content' in the context (C) menu. I assume that this is enough to test if the server is up?

At the general settings for Add-ons at Settings/System/Add-ons/Updates I have 'Install updates automatically' selected. At 'Manage dependencies' I checked the settings for the scrapers and it says 'There are currently no updates available for this add-on'. So everything seems up to date and running the latest verison.

Hopefully somebody can help me what's going wrong here.

Hello guys,

When adding my movie share from my NAS I get the following message/error:

'Couldn't download information

Unable to connect to remote server. Would you like to continue scanning?'

The strange thing is that the TVDB scraper is working just fine for my TV Shows share. I can also access my movie share in LibreELEC and watch my movies through the Video/File section. So at first I thought the TMDB service might be down temporarily, but two days later it still isn't working and giving me the same error.

I know adding the log file(s) is appreciated or even required for support, but I can't seem to find it. So if somebody could tell me where to find it, I'll happy to add it!
