Omg thanks guys, I had been having trouble with this for a month, I did not know there is hardware/software decoding. I will definitely try it and leave a comment if it worked. Another thing I noticed is that movies run smoother on LibreELEC 8.1.1, but maybe it's just imagination.

Can it have to do with hardware decoding? I saw that the Raspberry Pi 2 has hardware decoding for H.264 enabled automatically and that the license for VC-1 and MPEG-2 has to be purchased. Test 2.mkv is H.264, while Test 1.mkv is VC-1.

Yes, it is 1920 × 1080 Pixels. Here is the data:
Test 1.mkv
Overall Bitrate (video): 20536 kBit/s
Image Width: 1920
Image Height: 1080
Test 2.mkv
Overall Bitrate (video): 26106 kBit/s
Image Width: 1920
Image Height: 1080
You can download my test files from dropbox, they are only about 100MB together.

Solution: If you have problems with the playback of (some) full hd movies, check if the file is VC-1 or MPEG-2 (an mkv can contain this!). Videos in H.264 should run fine, while all other movies will not play smoothly. You can purchase a license for under 5€ for VC-1 and MPEG-2 here. Add the License to your config.txt and the movies should run perfectly fine.
Hi, I have the problem that some Full HD movies do not play smoothly. Others play fine after changing: Settings -> Player Settings -> Videos -> Adjust display refresh rate -> Always. I tested this on a Rasperry Pi 2 and 3 with LibreELEC 8.1.1. If you can fix this problem please let me know how to do it -
Quite certainly you are hit by this issue: lirc_rpi is sensitive to interrupt latency · Issue #906 · raspberrypi/linux · GitHub
Ok tank you, maybe it is because I'm using a Hifiberry and my IR receiver is soldered on top of it. So is it because the Hifiberry drains too many mA or because it uses too many GPIO Pins?

Hi, I'm a little confused now. For me before everything was fine (no repetitions) but now the key presses are repeated sometimes (Logs). I have new batteries in my remote and I really only pressed once It seems like it occurs more often when I watch a file from my NAS then when I watch it from a USB Stick, but maybe this is just arbitrary.

Another thing I noticed is that my IR remote stops working for about a minute after I switch my HDMI output cables. Not a big deal, but maybe it is helpful to know.

I installed Libreelec 8.1 fresh on another Pi and have the same issue, I can't play this file, it has nothing to do with the Hardware, under Openelec it was running. I dont think this is something I can fix, I just wanted to report it, because I like Libreelec a lot and I think it is important to play those files. And it has nothing todo with the Hifiberry, in the second setup I left it completely out.

I also noticed that the sound sounds gets distorted when I skip to the next chapter or something like this, but it gets better after like 20 seconds or so. I am not sure where this error comes from, I have 3 different Raspberry Pi's, maybe it is because the Hifiberry is missing on that Raspi but not on it? However I can say I have the problem with all 3 of my Pi's and before it was a lot more stable. If I played the same movie with my old setup from an USB stick it was working perfectly, not anymore.

Solution: If you have problems playing full HD videos on your Pi go to Settings -> Player Settings -> Videos -> Adjust display refresh rate -> Always

As I have you here with an Xbox One remote, could you test another thing?Yes it works fine, but my key mappings don't work, so I will stick to my old configuration.

Please post the output of these commands when the remote stopped working:
This time, I was able to use my remote once after I started the Pi (not immediately), afterwards, the remote was dead again.
Update: After I posted this, I removed the batteries and put them back into my remote. Now it works again, so the problem was the remote, sorry. So everything works perfectly fine for me with LibreELEC 8.1 together with lircd.conf, Lircmap.xml, remote.xml and "Enable Lirc" activated.
Thanks for your help

Hi, I recently switched from Openelec to LibreELEC. I added the files lircd.conf, Lircmap.xml and remote.xml on LibreELEC 8.1. It didn't work until I turned on "Enable Lirc". After this it worked perfectly fine, but after some time it stopped working completely. I don't understand what's wrong. Under Openelec 5.95.3 everything was fine. Turning "Enable Lirc" on and off allows me to use my remote once, but afterwards it stops working. The remote I'm using is the Xbox one remote. I also added dtoverlay=lirc-rpi to the config.
