I guess that's what the "passthrough problems" with this versions refers to. Apart from that 8.90.6 works very well here, both audio and video, very smooth.

As a sidethought, it would be great if the ProjectM visualization for this version of LibreElec could be included in the next build, if at all possible. Thanks for considering!

What skin are you using? Still the same issue here
Estuary skin doesn't freeze the box but still the visualisations don't showUPDATE:
I scanned my music folders into the library (never had to do that before) and now,
at least none of the skins freeze the box when a track is played. No visualisations show, I get the same result as selecting none as the visualisation in player settings.LATER UPDATE:
Back to square one again
Sorry for the late reply. Shadertoy 1.1.8.2 with Estuary Mod v2 2.9.6. I've just tested again. Shadertoy doesn't seem to retain the preset I select. The default preset ""2D LED Spectrum" doesn't show anything indeed. But if I set it to "Sound Sinus Wave" for example, I get effects. As soon as I stop playback, though, the preset resets itself to default. Maybe there's a write permission issue of some kind or the settings dialogue is malformed since the add-on settings dialogue is empty. No freezing, though.

Everybody got the point and although it is valid, it's misplaced in the middle of a testing thread for an alpha version. It's implied that anyone who installs these versions does so at their own risk and should bring a minimum of technical expertise to help further the project. Otherwise the thread would just deteriorate into a an endless loop of the same help questions and devs will get tired.
So yeah, of course what you write is correct but it's a repetition of the warning on the first page and is thus as helpful IMHO as those users asking the same questions over and over again without reading what's written before.
-
The relevance "is" that depending on your needs and use there is no significant improvement in updating what's not broken.
Especially when updating to Alpha Builds that clearly show through postings that there are many issues in development stage.
Thank you, Captain Obvious. Also, beware! Beans make you fart!

@adamg is the ShaderToy issue a problem with these later builds that you can fix or must we wait until the developer updates the add-on?
It works again here with 8.90.5.

You could, but how usable it will be depends on your TV.
On my LG, with 10 bit enabled, the TV goes into SDR BT2020 mode, which oversaturates color on all non-HDR content, making it look bad.
SDR BT2020 is 4:2:0 if I'm correct. My Philips 55/PUS6551 is set to 4:4:4/4:4:2 and for my untrained eye everything looks ok.

Thanks again, while looking for some tweaks I also found this Kodi's SSH implementation is beyond awful
Is that something that could be made default?
-
Before you start a video:
echo '444,10bit' > /sys/class/amhdmitx/amhdmitx0/attr
After video:
echo '444,8bit' > /sys/class/amhdmitx/amhdmitx0/attr
To apply the mode change, you need to either change resolution or refresh rate. It's fine if you have auto refresh rate enabled.
Thanks! Could I put this in autostart and just leave 10bit enabled?

Could you help an old man with the commands to activate HDR and 10bit?

Sorry if it seems like I'm talking to myself, but I solved my Philips remote problem. It was actually CEC related. I turned off everything that said "Standby" or "Power-off" and now it works out of the box, as expected.
I've never been able to use the keyboard on the backside, though, I'll check out if I can't scan some codes now.
-
Also, I'm trying to scan codes of my Philips remote. But whenever I press any key whatsoever, the only thing that happens is that I loose SSH connection. It looks like any keypress sends some kind of term command.
This means, that whenever somebody wants to use the remote with the TV, the S905X box will be turned off as collateral damage.
Any suggestions? This is it:

A noob follow-up question for the remote configs. I found my remote with the help of the provided pictures. First of all, thanks to everybody who took the time to scan their codes, it is well appreciated.
Now, my archive only contained 2 files but the remote works just fine. Who needs the other files, an xml kodi keytable file and a lirc mapfile?
-
After updating to 8.90.4 the remotes have gone crazy. Before, my Philips TV remote worked with Kodi just fine. Now any keypress does what it does and additionally turn the S905X box off. Bummer.
On the original remote, where before no keys worked, now a few crazy keys work: Power On, Up is Down, 7 is Up, TV Power is Enter and Vol+ is Power Off.
I've tried both the regular 2GB dtb and the slowemmc dtb, both with the same result.

Does anybody here use the music database? When updating from 8.90.3 to 8.90.4, I would be presented with a black screen. The log shows a failure to initialize MyMusic70. I've tried dropping it (and its predecessor) to no avail. Kodi then boots ok but as soon as I scrape something, on the next boot I get a black screen again. Error in log is
Code21:31:09.745 T:139727820420864 ERROR: SQL: [MyMusic70] An unknown error occurred Query: SELECT idVersion FROM version 21:31:09.795 T:139727820420864 ERROR: Process error processing job
The culprit seems to be PR:13318 where I've already left a comment.

Of course "facepalm". Thanks!

I followed the guide, unfortunately I renamed the device to "LIBREELEC_DISK" instad of "STORAGE". Now I can boot into a Libreelec (Linux?) shell via SD card. I can do "blkid" to show the devices, but "e2label" throws an error "not found".
What would be the proper way to change the label from the shell? Sorry, Linux noob here...

automatic updates are already enabled and there is an FAQ with the commands already
Well, colour me blind and call me stupid but I don't see an FAQ about that in the first post and autoupdate has never worked for me. Probably because I have steadily updated from johngalts first builds and everything else runs just fine on my T6 S905X.
